Job Description - Head - Copper Strategy & Special Projects
Responsibilities
1. Business Strategy & Growth Roadmap
Develop the long-term business strategy and roadmap for the Copper Business for sustainable volume, EBITDA growth (e.g projects on refinery expansion, Secondary Feed maximization, Strategic & critical metals recovery)
Lead growth and strategic projects from opportunity identification, concept validation, and team alignment, management approval for execution. Convert strategic priorities and identified opportunities into executable business plans with clear ownership, timelines, and stakeholder buy-in.
Drive initiatives in collaboration with technology, Operations, Commercial, Finance, and Projects teams.
2. Business Excellence & Transformation
Identify and drive targeted interventions in core processes and maintenance to improve operational efficiency, productivity, and measurable business outcomes, including higher recovery, reduced cycle time and WIP, increased throughput, and enhanced OEE & reduced cost.
Drive transformation programs across manufacturing with cross functional collaboration
Benchmark with global peers & identify areas for improvement on continuous basis
Ensure timely execution of high-value strategic initiatives with complete ownership including direct responsibility of executions of few identified initiatives
Monitor project execution through milestone tracking, risk resolution, stakeholder reviews, and benefit realization until implementation is completed at site.
Support sustainability and circular economy objectives.
3. Strategic Projects & Site Implementation
Ensure timely execution of high-value strategic initiatives with complete ownership including direct responsibility of executions of few identified initiatives
Monitor project execution through milestone tracking, risk resolution, stakeholder reviews, and benefit realization until implementation is completed at site.
Support sustainability and circular economy objectives.
Integrate SHE priorities into strategic initiatives, business plans, and special projects.
Ensure strategic projects comply with safety, environmental, statutory, and organizational requirements while supporting sustainability and zero-harm objectives.
Work with communication themes & content on business priorities on social media
Drive external Awards & Recognition programs with respective functional teams
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; MBA or equivalent business qualification preferred.
15–20 years of experience in copper, metals, mining, smelting, or capital-intensive manufacturing industries.
Strong exposure to business strategy, growth opportunities, transformation programs, cost optimization, digital initiatives, recycling, and sustainability-linked projects.
Proven ability to work with CXO-level stakeholders, secure cross-functional buy-in, build business cases, and govern projects through site implementation.
