Job Description - Head of Catastrophe Modelling Delivery

Guy Carpenter (GC) is seeking candidates for the following position based in the Mumbai office:Head of Catastrophe Modelling DeliveryWhat can you expect:This is a leadership role for a highly driven and highly achieving individual who possess excellent capabilities to lead large analytics team. You will be a member of GC Global Analytics & Advisory (GAA) team in Mumbai leading & driving our catastrophe modelling delivery teams who cater to the catastrophe modelling requirements of multiple regions across the globe.Our global footprint spans across Treaty & Facultative portfolios along with capital market solutions for multiple lines of business & perils, spreading across multiple geographies and serving global re/insurance markets which would provide exposure to varied kind of challenges.In this role, you would be expected to own the catastrophe modelling team delivery and have a market focused & commercial mindset around our India office offerings. You will be providing the required expertise to enable this so that the team & all leads are aligned to seamlessly transition into this model.You would be subjected to gain an understanding of re/insurance markets & clients, their challenges and priorities which would be essential for you to be successful in this role.What is in it for you:High visibility role along with ample opportunity to express yourself and contribute with your own experience & ideas to make a difference in the ways we should organize & operate in future.You will be working closely with the onshore business leaders, catastrophe modelling leaders and brokers to plan for projects execution & delivery strategies leading to catering to the growing needs of the global clients and markets.Provides you with an opportunity to sharpen your business acumen & business growth skills along with being responsible for operational aspects considering the ownership & flexibility offered as part of this role.Our division consists of a large knowledge sharing team globally, with diverse expertise and multiple locations across the world, which will give you exposure to valuable colleagues and their experiences to further broaden your own horizon.We will count on you to:Drive the strategy and delivery of the catastrophe modelling analytics and advisory solutions from GC GAA India based team.Develop & embed a consistent and commercial-delivery focused mindset across all our catastrophe modelling teams who work very closely with multiple regional teams spread across the globe.Stakeholder Management - ability to govern project deliveries and manage end client expectations through reporting and performance metrics; lead change initiatives with stakeholders; demand gathering and resource planning through stakeholder agreement.Ensure a consistent engagement model between our operations and the onshore teams. Identify best practice within the existing teams, and points for improvements.Provide leadership to our catastrophe modelling team members helping them in their capability and career development through training, performance management and continuous communication. Mentor and empower the leaders of our teams to develop them for next level career paths.Gets hands-on understanding of all aspects of the work being done by the team and be seen as a leader on all Re/insurance analytics capabilities especially exposure management, and catastrophe modelling.Build an environment of innovation in the team. Is able to conceptualize new tools and products in line with future needs of GC & GAA team and clients.Provide management support to Mumbai teams in the testing, feedback, and adoption of modernization work and products to drive efficiencies and insights through automation and standardization.Understands the end-to-end value chain of reinsurance across GC and is able to drive a change by bringing together talent from cross departments/teams.Work with process transformation and training leader to identify key areas for development and implementing streamlined automated process.In conjunction with Global Model Solutions & Advisory and Business Intelligence teams, ensure that catastrophe modelling team is shaped for future scalability and growth.What you need to have:15+ years of experience in managing large teams & process management with significant experience in managing catastrophe modelling teams especially in re/insurance portfolio analytics and placements.Leading expertise on the operation of key vendor models (Moody’s RMS, Verisk AIR, CoreLogic RQE etc.) and their application for re/insurance clients’ needs.Excellent communication skills to own interactions with onshore leaders.Proven track record of managing model adoption & change management process for re/insurers.People focused – lead by example and create career paths for everyone.Talent management – ability to attract, grow and retain key talent.Execution, Accountability, Reliability are key pillars of this role – proven capability to build trust and be a positive force for leading change.What makes you stand out:Relevant market certifications e.g. ACII, CPCU, ARe etc. would be an added advantage.Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC is a leading global risk and reinsurance specialist with more than 3,500 professionals in over 60 offices around the world.
