As a Linguist, your primary responsibility is to manage translation and copy-editing tasks, ensuring high-quality linguistic deliverables across assigned projects and accounts. The role involves translating and post-editing marketing, UI, legal, and other content between English and Hindi while preserving the original intent, tone, and purpose for the target audience. Proficiency in CAT tools and localization processes, along with excellent communication skills and a passion for language, are essential for delivering impactful, audience-focused content.
JOB OVERVIEW
As a Linguist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality localization services, including translation, post-editing, proofreading, and linguistic review activities across various projects. Your focus will be on producing natural, accurate, and culturally appropriate content in Hindi while ensuring alignment with the source text's intent, tone, and communication objectives.
You will work on a diverse range of content types, such as marketing, user interface strings, legal documentation, training materials, presentations, and multimedia assets. The role requires strong linguistic judgment to adapt content effectively for the target audience while maintaining consistency, quality, and adherence to client-specific guidelines. Depending on project needs, you may also be involved in content creation, transcreation, and terminology management.
Success in this role requires excellent command of both English and Hindi, strong attention to detail, and the ability to balance linguistic accuracy with audience engagement. Familiarity with CAT tools, localization workflows, and quality assurance processes is essential. The ideal candidate demonstrates ownership, effective communication skills, adaptability, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.

MAIN DUTIES
- Perform translation, post-editing, copy-editing, and proofreading tasks between English and Hindi using designated translation and localization tools.
- Handle a wide range of content types, including marketing materials, UI strings, creative content, legal content, and other localized assets, adapting the level of creativity as required.
- Review and understand project requirements, target audience expectations, and machine translation (MT) quality before starting assignments.
- Effectively utilize CAT tools and other supporting platforms required for localization work, such as query management systems and UI review tools.
- Adhere to established workflows and processes, including raising queries, reporting issues, and proactively communicating risks or blockers to relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with client-specific style guides, terminology databases, linguistic standards, and quality requirements.
- Continuously improve performance by incorporating feedback received through internal and external quality evaluations.
- Monitor personal quality metrics and error trends, and actively work on identified improvement areas.
- Participate in internal training sessions, knowledge-sharing initiatives, and client-led training programs.
- Contribute to error review and arbitration discussions to support quality improvement and consistency.
- Meet defined productivity, quality, and turnaround-time targets.
- Attend internal quality meetings and client quality review calls, contributing constructively to discussions and action plans.
- Demonstrate a growth mindset by regularly assessing skill gaps and seeking guidance from language leads and management to enhance performance and professional development.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Applied Languages, Linguistics, Literature, Journalism, Communications, or a related field preferred.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Hindi and strong command of English.
- Experience or demonstrated interest in creative localization, translation, transcreation, copywriting, content writing, or Hindi content creation. Exposure to blogging, video scripts, voice-over scripts, web content, marketing communications, magazines, newspapers, or digital media content is an advantage. Fresh graduates with exceptional language skills and a passion for creative writing are encouraged to apply.
- Strong comprehension skills in English with the ability to accurately translate, transcreate, post-edit, copy-edit, and proofread content according to client requirements and target audience needs.
- Excellent written Hindi with a keen eye for grammar, style, consistency, and linguistic accuracy.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve linguistic, terminology, and localization-related issues.
- Familiarity with CAT tools and localization workflows; experience with industry-standard localization platforms is a plus.

- Translate and localize primarily IT-related and consumer-focused content, including marketing, user interface (UI) strings, help documentation, support content, and other customer-facing assets.
- Utilize CAT tools and other localization platforms effectively, including query management systems, terminology resources, and UI validation tools.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of client-specific style guides, terminology databases, linguistic standards, and brand voice requirements, ensuring consistent application across all deliverables.
- Manage and maintain linguistic assets such as glossaries, style guides, terminology databases, and work instructions, ensuring they remain accurate, up to date, and aligned with project requirements.
- Incorporate feedback from language leads, senior linguists, and client reviewers to continuously improve quality, consistency, and overall performance.
- Participate actively in internal training sessions, knowledge-sharing initiatives, and client-led workshops to enhance linguistic and domain expertise.
- Contribute to error review and arbitration discussions to drive quality improvements and maintain linguistic consistency.
- Consistently meet or exceed established productivity, quality, and on-time delivery KPIs.
- Demonstrate ownership of personal and professional development by identifying skill gaps, seeking guidance when needed, and implementing improvement plans.
- Support the achievement of team objectives and business goals established by the Team Manager.
Additional Job Details:
Education Level
• University degree in Translation/Applied Languages/Linguistic Studies or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience
• Native fluency in TARGET language
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken, in a variety of registers
• Experience in translation/localization/editing or content writing
• Thorough understanding of the localization process
• Good user experience of standard software, such as Windows and Office applications
• Good user experience of standard CAT tools, e.g. XTM, SDL Studio and issue tracking and query management tools, e.g.JIRA
