Job Description - HR Generalist - Payroll and Compliance

Role Objective

We are seeking a high -caliber HR Generalist to take full ownership of our payroll systems and statutory landscape. The ideal candidate isn't just an administrator; they are a compliance expert who ensures that our operations are 100% aligned with Indian Labor Laws and Kerala state regulations.


Key Responsibilities

1. Payroll & Compensation Management

  • Execute end -to -end monthly payroll for all employees using [Insert Software, e.g., Keka/GreytHR].

  • Validate attendance, leaves, overtime, and variable pay components.

  • Manage the full cycle of TDS on Salary, including investment declaration verification and issuing Form 16.

  • Ensure 100% accuracy in Full & Final (F&F) settlements, including Gratuity and Leave Encashment calculations.

2. Statutory Compliance & Filings

  • Handle monthly remittances and return filings for PF, ESI, Professional Tax (PT), and LWF.

  • Manage the EPFO and ESIC portals, including UAN generation, KYC updates, and claim settlements.

  • Ensure compliance with the Kerala Shops and Commercial Establishments Act and other local labor regulations.

  • Prepare and maintain statutory registers (Form A, B, C, etc.) to ensure the company is "Audit -Ready" at all times.

3. HR Operations & Lifecycle

  • Manage the onboarding process, focusing on accurate documentation and statutory enrollment.

  • Serve as the point of contact for employee queries regarding salary, tax, and benefits.

  • Stay updated on the latest amendments in The New Labor Codes (2026) and implement necessary structural changes.



Requirements

Technical Requirements

  • Education: MBA in HR or M.Com/MSW with a focus on Industrial Relations.

  • Statutory Depth: Proven experience in handling PF/ESI/PT/LWF independently.

  • Excel Mastery: Must be proficient in VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and advanced formulas for payroll reconciliation.

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Payment of Wages Act, Minimum Wages Act, and Gratuity Act.

Behavioral Traits

  • Integrity: Handles sensitive financial and personal data with high confidentiality.

  • Precision: A "zero -error" mindset when it comes to statutory deadlines and salary numbers.

  • Communication: Ability to explain complex tax or PF components to employees in simple terms (English & Malayalam).
