Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university. Engineering Work experience of more than 10 years (overall) including min. 6 years in all facets of HVAC Engineering & Plumbing Design of International Industrial Buildings
Min 5+ years’ experience in Building HVAC design work of Plant Buildings & Non-Plant buildings in international projects, along with 2+ years in basic engineering coordination with other disciplines and vendors, preferably including some experience in Overall Building Engineering management (Experience in design or/and field supervision/engineering in international projects is an advantage)
Responsible for HVAC mechanical, HVAC controls and Plumbing Design related works of Building Engineering related works of Sub Station, Control room, Administration Building, Ware Houses, PEB Buildings and Shelters for international projects as described below:
1. Preparation of basic HVAC systems planning and design specifications in consultation with JGC HQ (Yokohama) Building & HVAC Engineers, including presentation to Client.
2. Coordination & Supervision of detailed engineering and BIM works executed by 3rd party engineering / BIM modelling consultants including engineering quality and schedule control. This may include visits to BIM consultant’s office, likely in an Indian city.
3. Engineering coordination work among building disciplines engineers (e.g. Architectural, Structural, MEP) and among other plant discipline engineers (e.g Civil, Piping, Mechanical, E&I).
4. Review and approval of HVAC & Plumbing drawings issued by 3rd party engineering sub-contractor.
5. Client coordination and Client comment resolution
6. Procurement support work related to vendor selection, purchasing, and technical advising for building procurement items in consultation with respective discipline engineers , Lead Building engineer of Chennai office and / or JGC HQ (Yokohama) Building / HVAC Engineer
7. Work location shall be India based. However project work may include
(i) a short visit (approx. 6 months) to Yokohama, Japan, working with the JGC headquarter engineering team.
(ii) Working as Field Engineer for short tenures as required for construction support work related to subcontractor selection, contracting, field engineering and trouble shooting
(iii) Working at other Operating Centres of company performing project roles
Requirements
1. Basic knowledge of HVAC Design, HVAC Control design, Plumbing design and Client based engineering
2. International codes and practices of HVAC & Plumbing design
3. 3D modelling philosophy
4. Revit & Navisworks operation skills.
5. MS office & Excel operation skills.
6. Mentoring and training of junior engineers within the department.
7. Direct supervision and checking of the work by junior staff
8. Flexibility of working in project team as originator or supervisor as required – especially in early stages of project
9. Business level communication skills of oral and written English.
Basic Knowledge of Building Architectural, Electrical & Safety design will be considered as additional skill
