Role Summary
We are seeking a Principal Industry Expert with deep end -to -end Financial Services domain expertise — spanning both business processes and the technology stack that supports them. This is not a sales role. The successful candidate will serve as the authoritative voice on how Financial Services institutions actually operate — from front -office customer engagement through middle -office risk and back -office settlement, and across the systems, data, regulatory framework, and integration patterns that make those operations run. They will work with our product, engineering, sales, and partner teams to translate that end -to -end understanding into solutions, intellectual property, and credible customer engagement. The role demands fluency in both the business (P&L drivers, regulatory environment, customer journeys, risk frameworks) and the technology (core banking, payments, mainframe, integration platforms, data architecture, and increasingly AI -enabled workflows under governance).
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the end -to -end Financial Services domain authority across the business — covering retail and commercial banking, payments, lending, capital markets, insurance, and the regulatory environment that shapes each.
• Translate deep business understanding into solution design — recognizing how decisions in one part of the financial services value chain (e.g., underwriting models) impact others (regulatory capital, customer experience, operational risk).
• Bring technical fluency in the Financial Services technology stack — core banking platforms, payments systems, mainframe applications and modernization paths, enterprise integration layers, data warehousing, and AI governance tooling.
• Partner with product and engineering teams to shape solution capabilities, accelerators, and intellectual property for Financial Services use cases — including AI in underwriting, fraud detection, claims processing, application modernization, and agentic operations workflows.
• Co -develop industry -specific intellectual property and frameworks tailored to financial regulation (Model Risk Management, Responsible AI, fair lending, and adjacent regulatory regimes).
• Engage with customers as a credible peer in business and technical discussions — leading workshops on operating model design, technology architecture, regulatory positioning, and AI adoption roadmaps.
• Support enterprise customer engagements by bringing domain depth that goes beyond sales positioning.
• Build thought leadership through whitepapers, conference contributions, and customer reference work that demonstrates depth in both Financial Services business and technology.
• Mentor product, engineering, and sales team members on Financial Services domain knowledge, both business mechanics and technical stack realities.
Required Qualifications
• 10–15 years of professional experience in Financial Services, with a blend of operating, advisory, consulting, or technology delivery roles. Pure sales backgrounds are not a fit for this role.
• Deep end -to -end functional knowledge of Financial Services processes across at least two of: retail or commercial banking, payments, lending and underwriting, capital markets, insurance, or wealth management.
• Strong technical fluency in Financial Services systems and architecture — core banking platforms, payments rails, mainframe applications, enterprise integration platforms, data warehousing, and AI governance tooling.
• Strong understanding of the regulatory and governance environment for Financial Services — including Model Risk Management (SR 11 -7 or equivalent), fair lending regulations, capital adequacy frameworks, and emerging AI governance regimes.
• Demonstrated ability to connect business outcomes to technology decisions — e.g., how a change in risk model approach drives data -architecture and governance requirements.
• Experience working alongside product, engineering, or solution architecture teams to design and deliver Financial Services solutions.
• Strong executive presence and proven ability to engage credibly with both business audiences (Chief Risk Officer, Chief Operating Officer, line -of -business leaders) and technical audiences (Chief Information Officer, Chief Data Officer, Chief Technology Officer).
• Bachelor's degree required; MBA, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), or advanced degree preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
• Hands -on experience with Generative AI or applied AI/Machine Learning use cases in Financial Services — fraud detection, underwriting, claims, customer service copilots, regulatory reporting automation, application modernization.
• Experience with enterprise AI governance tooling and modernization platforms relevant to Financial Services.
• Direct operating experience inside a Financial Services institution (whether in industry or in a consulting engagement leading transformation work).
• Existing relationships in Financial Services enterprise accounts across banking, insurance, capital markets, or comparable institutions — though relationships alone are not sufficient for this role.
• Published thought leadership (articles, conference speaking, customer case studies) in Financial Services transformation, AI in Financial Services, or AI governance and risk management.
• Experience leading or mentoring distributed teams across geographies.
