We are looking for a seasoned Factory People & Industrial Relations Lead to own end-to-end people operations at a manufacturing site. This role sits at the heart of plant functioning—ensuring stable industrial relations, airtight statutory compliance, disciplined workforce operations, and a safe, engaged shop-floor environment.
The role requires a strong on-ground presence, hands-on leadership, and the ability to balance business priorities with workforce well-being. You will act as the primary interface between plant leadership, employees, unions (if applicable), and statutory authorities.
Key Responsibilities
Workforce Relations & Industrial Harmony
Build and sustain a positive, productive relationship between plant leadership and shop-floor employees.
Proactively manage grievances, disciplinary matters, misconduct cases, and conflict resolution.
Lead negotiations related to wages, settlements, productivity agreements, and workforce restructuring where required.
Coordinate with labor departments, local administration, and external agencies to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Compliance, Labor Law & Governance
Own compliance with all applicable labor and industrial laws, including factory regulations, social security, contract labor, wages, and environmental norms.
Ensure timely filings, renewals, audits, and upkeep of statutory documentation and registers.
Act as the single point of contact for factory inspectors, labor officers, and regulatory authorities.
Ensure contractor compliance with statutory, safety, and documentation requirements.
Hiring & Workforce Lifecycle Management
Manage recruitment for manufacturing roles across permanent staff, trainees, and contract workforce.
Drive structured onboarding, induction, and shop-floor familiarization programs.
Oversee time office operations including attendance, shift rosters, overtime, leave, and workforce deployment.
Manage separation processes including exits, settlements, and final documentation.
Plant Administration & Employee Experience
Lead plant administration functions such as canteen operations, transport, security, housekeeping, and facilities.
Partner with safety teams to ensure adherence to EHS standards and statutory safety requirements.
Design and run employee engagement initiatives, welfare schemes, health programs, and community activities.
Actively monitor shop-floor morale and address issues before they escalate.
Capability Building & Performance Support
Identify training needs for technical skills, safety, compliance, and behavioral development.
Coordinate statutory training programs and skill upgradation initiatives.
Support performance review processes for plant employees in collaboration with functional heads.
What We’re Looking For
Strong experience handling HR, IR, and compliance in a manufacturing or factory environment.
Deep working knowledge of labor laws, factory operations, and contract labor management.
Proven ability to manage shop-floor workforce dynamics with maturity and authority.
Experience engaging with unions, contractors, inspectors, and government bodies.
High ownership mindset with comfort working in operational, time-sensitive environments.
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence across worker groups and leadership teams.
