Job Description & Summary:   

The candidate will lead and manage the tax policy function, conducting research and analysis on current and upcoming tax policies to develop informed perspectives. The role involves representing the organization in industry forums, collaborating with global teams on tax policy matters, and providing strategic guidance to clients on complex policy issues. Additionally, the candidate will contribute to thought leadership initiatives and engage in global tax policy projects as required. 

  

Responsibilities:  

The primary focus would be on the following:  

Candidate will primarily engage with tax authorities and policy makers across various revenue departments within the GoI.   

Roles and responsibilities will primarily entail the following:   

  • Lead and manage Advance Pricing Agreement (APA) and Mutual Agreement Procedure (MAP) engagements, including strategy development, execution, and client advisory. 
  • Represent clients before the Dispute Resolution Panel (DRP) and Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals) [CIT(A)] in select tax controversy matters. 
  • Provide strategic guidance, technical support, and advisory assistance to the internal Tax and Policy Implementation Team (TapIT) on complex tax matters. 
  • Develop litigation and dispute resolution strategies and provide support in critical proceedings involving Transfer Pricing, Corporate Tax, Prosecution matters, Withholding Tax, Special Audits, Stay Applications, CPC-related matters, and other significant tax controversies. 
  • Advise on and represent clients in matters requiring approvals, clarifications, or relief from the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). 
  • Lead client pitches and business development initiatives related to APA, MAP, tax litigation, and dispute resolution services; conduct client workshops and participate in high-level client discussions. 
  • Provide strategic guidance and support in proceedings before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and other regulatory or investigative authorities.
