About the Role
We are looking for a Software Engineer (SDE 1) to help bridge the gap between complex healthcare systems and an AI-powered technology platform. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role for an engineer who enjoys solving complex integration challenges and working with heterogeneous systems.
You will work on integrating with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and healthcare platforms using APIs and interoperability standards. Where APIs are limited or unavailable, you will design and implement technical solutions to interact with EHR systems and automate workflows.
Your work will directly contribute to enabling seamless, reliable, and automated workflows for healthcare providers and patients.
Key Responsibilities
EHR Integrations
Integrate software platforms with leading Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, and similar platforms.
Build and maintain integrations using REST APIs, FHIR, HL7, and other healthcare interoperability standards.
Design, develop, and maintain reliable data connectors to securely push and pull patient and clinical data.
Implement monitoring and alerting mechanisms to ensure integration reliability, data integrity, and system availability.
Troubleshoot integration failures and data synchronization issues across systems.
Automation and Data Retrieval
Develop robust automation solutions to interact with EHR user interfaces and workflows where APIs are unavailable or limited.
Build automation scripts and programmatic solutions for interacting with web applications and complex workflows.
Ensure secure, compliant, and reliable handling of sensitive healthcare data.
Optimize integrations and automation workflows for resilience, performance, speed, and minimal disruption to clinical operations.
Collaboration and Delivery
Collaborate closely with Product, QA, Engineering, and Customer-facing teams to validate integrations against real-world healthcare workflows.
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to integrations, data synchronization, and automation.
Document integration patterns, technical approaches, edge cases, and reusable components.
Contribute to building scalable integration frameworks and reusable modules.
Participate in the design and implementation of reliable solutions for complex and high-stakes environments.
Required Qualifications
2–3 years of professional experience in software engineering and application development.
Hands-on experience building and maintaining API integrations.
Strong programming skills in JavaScript or TypeScript, with experience in Node.js preferred.
Familiarity with Python is an added advantage.
Hands-on experience with FHIR, HL7, or other healthcare interoperability standards.
Experience developing automation scripts and interacting with web applications programmatically.
Good understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases.
Strong understanding of secure data handling and data integrity principles.
Experience delivering software integrations in complex, high-availability, or high-stakes environments.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or similar healthcare platforms.
Experience with serverless architectures and technologies such as AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Functions, or Firebase.
Previous experience in healthcare, HealthTech, or other regulated industries.
Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog, New Relic, or similar platforms.
Experience working with healthcare data, clinical workflows, or healthcare technology integrations.
