Our mission is to safeguard critical space infrastructure by providing the first integrated security platform to see threats, decide fast and respond at scale. Where spacecraft have traditionally been costly, slow to produce and require extensive effort to coordinate, Space Machines Company (SMC) is developing systems that are produced at scale and operated with human-on-the-loop autonomy to drastically reduce the cost and complexity of orbital operations.

As space becomes more congested and contested, the satellites that underpin modern life — including communications, navigation and financial systems — are increasingly exposed. We are developing the vehicles and software to protect them, working with commercial operators and government agencies across allied nations.

Our approach is grounded in economics as much as engineering. Optimus Viper, our Rapid Response Vehicle, delivers genuine mission capability at a fraction of conventional spacecraft cost, designed for high-volume production and rapid deployment across orbital regimes. Solstice OS, our AI-driven command and control platform, fuses space domain awareness data and automates mission planning and vehicle coordination, allowing smaller teams to manage larger constellations and respond to emerging situations in seconds rather than hours.

The future of space depends on assets that can be inspected, monitored and protected in orbit. We are building the technology to make that possible.

Role Summary

This role is the execution engine behind SMC's capital raising and corporate development work. You will work directly with the Chief Development Officer, owning the investor pipeline, the dataroom, and the materials that go in front of investors, boards and strategic partners. It suits someone who wants ownership over a live raise rather than a seat on a large deal team.

Key Responsibilities

Investor relations and pipeline

• Own the investor pipeline in Hubspot and Visible VC. Maintain it and keep it current.
• Prepare the CDO and CEO for investor meetings. Counterparty background, positioning, the questions they will face, and the answers that need to land
• Produce monthly investor updates and reporting packs

Dataroom and diligence

• Own the dataroom end to end: structure, version control, access permissions, and keeping every document current
• Monitor investor engagement and report on where interest is building and where it is stalling
• Run the investor question and answer process from request through to closed out

Artefact production

• Build pitch decks, investment papers, teasers and one pagers to a send ready standard, within quick turnaround times
• Maintain a single library of approved slides, figures and language so materials stay consistent across audiences
• Own preparation of board and shareholder materials

Market intelligence and partnerships

• Build regular reads on funding activity, valuations, transactions and competitor movement across space, defence and deep tech, and the market maps that sit behind the raise narrative
• Support commercial assessment of potential partners and counterparties

Capital structure and non dilutive funding

• Support grant and non dilutive funding activity: identifying programs, preparing applications, and managing reporting and acquittals to deadline
• Maintain the cap table and note register, and model dilution and return scenarios across instruments and rounds

What good looks like at three months

• The dataroom is investor ready at any hour, without notice
• Materials go out on the CDO's timeline, not yours
• The pipeline tells the truth, and the CDO uses it to decide where to spend the week

What you bring

• 2 to 4 years in venture capital, corporate development, startup finance or a founder's office
• Understanding of fundraising mechanics: rounds, instruments, cap tables, dataroom and diligence process
• Excellent deck and document craft. You can take a rough brief and return something ready to send
• Fluent with AI tools, Claude in particular. This is a working requirement, not a bonus
• Hubspot, Visible VC or comparable CRM experience
• Self starting. Comfortable with ambiguity and thin process
• Available across Australian and Indian time zones

Why this role

You will work directly with the founders on live capital activity from your first week. The team is small, so the work is visible and the ownership is real. Do this well and the role grows into corporate development as the pipeline of partnerships and transactions builds.
