The role

• Carry out trade mark clearance searches, evaluate the results to assess the availability of proposed trade marks. When necessary, instruct our external law firms for additional searches. Communicate outcomes and advice to marketing teams directly.
• Draft instructions for external law firms regarding trade mark and registered design filings and prosecutions, gather supporting documents, and prepare cost estimates as required.
• Collect evidence of Magnum’s trade mark use to support annual renewal cycles, the collection of Statements of Use, and matters relating to prosecution, opposition, and cancellation.
• Monitor and research trade mark watch services outputs to detect potentially infringing applications from third parties and provide recommendation to the Senior IP Counsel(s).
• Assist with enforcement, infringement, and opposition cases involving IP by preparing pre-action letters and settlement agreements.
• Support with the drafting and execution of IP related agreements, including copyright assignments.
• Respond to requests from legal colleagues and business partners for authorisation letters, portfolio reports, copies of certificates, and other ad hoc trade mark needs.
• Support with the integrating or divesting IP assets due to mergers and acquisitions, including recording trade mark assignments.
• Support in managing the Domain Name portfolio through routine audits to identify lapsing opportunities.
• Maintain the IP Challenge database

Develop PowerPoint presentations and other resources to inform and educate business partners about Magnum Intellectual Property.

We're looking for someone who

• Has 6-8 years of experience in global trade mark and registered design portfolio management, including conducting trade mark clearance searches, prosecution matters, trade mark renewals and enforcement matters globally.
• Experience with drafting IP related agreements.
• Strong knowledge of trade mark, design right and copyright laws, regulations and practices.
• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) with a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Intellectual Property
• Trademark Qualification  
• Brings strong skills in (2-4 capabilities)
• Thinks end-to-end and takes ownerships for results
• Is comfortable working in a fast-moving, evolving organisation
• Values collaboration, clarity and low-ego ways of working
