Job Description - IT Admin - Function Lead

This role is for one of the Weekday's clients

Salary range: Rs 1500000 - Rs 2500000 (ie INR 15 - 25 LPA)

Min Experience: 8+ years

Location: Pune

JobType: full-time

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on IT Admin – Function Lead to oversee and govern IT administration across the organization and multiple locations. This role is responsible for ensuring secure, reliable, and standardized IT operations while building scalable processes, controls, and governance frameworks to support business growth.

The ideal candidate will lead IT administration functions covering end-user computing, endpoint management, identity and access governance, IT operations, compliance, audit readiness, and service management. This is a leadership role requiring a balance of strategic thinking, operational excellence, and hands-on technical expertise.



Requirements

Key Responsibilities

IT Administration & Operations Management

  • Lead and govern day-to-day IT administration activities across all locations.
  • Ensure availability, reliability, and performance of end-user systems, servers, and IT services.
  • Define, implement, and enforce IT administration policies, SOPs, and operational standards.
  • Manage vendor relationships, licensing agreements, and support services.
  • Drive standardization and operational excellence across IT functions.

User, Endpoint & Device Management

  • Own employee onboarding, offboarding, provisioning, and de-provisioning processes.
  • Define and enforce endpoint configuration standards across laptops, desktops, and peripherals.
  • Oversee OS deployment, patch management, endpoint security, and system hardening initiatives.
  • Manage enterprise endpoint environments through MDM/UEM platforms.
  • Ensure effective asset lifecycle management, inventory tracking, and disposal compliance.

Identity & Access Governance

  • Govern user access management and enforce least-privilege principles.
  • Manage privileged access processes, approvals, reviews, and audits.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for administrative access, permissions, and temporary privileges.
  • Collaborate with security teams to strengthen identity governance and compliance.

Infrastructure & Application Support

  • Coordinate with infrastructure and networking teams to ensure seamless operations.
  • Support enterprise applications and internal business systems.
  • Manage software deployment, application licensing, and compliance.
  • Ensure business-critical systems remain operational and secure.

IT Service Management

  • Ensure all IT activities are tracked through ITSM systems and documented workflows.
  • Monitor incident, service request, and change management processes.
  • Maintain SLA compliance and drive timely resolution of issues.
  • Deliver regular operational reports and service performance updates to leadership.

Security, Compliance & Audit Readiness

  • Maintain audit-ready IT documentation, policies, and operational records.
  • Support internal and external audits, including remediation and corrective actions.
  • Partner with security teams on initiatives involving:
    • Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
    • Zero Trust & Secure Service Edge (SSE)
    • Web Application Firewalls (WAF)
    • Cloud Security
    • Endpoint Security
    • Backup & Recovery
    • Privileged Access Management (PAM)
    • Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM)

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the IT Administration team.
  • Assign ownership, monitor deliverables, and ensure accountability.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex IT issues.
  • Collaborate closely with security, infrastructure, and business stakeholders.

Business Continuity & Process Improvement

  • Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, process optimization, and standardization.
  • Continuously improve operational efficiency, security posture, and service quality.

Key Accountabilities

  • Stable and secure IT operations across the organization.
  • Zero undocumented changes, access requests, or system modifications.
  • SLA adherence for incidents, service requests, and operational support.
  • Audit-compliant processes and documentation.
  • Accurate reporting and operational governance.

Required Skills & Experience

Must-Have Skills

  • 8+ years of experience in IT Administration, System Administration, or IT Operations.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience leading a team or IT function.
  • Strong expertise in Windows and Linux administration.
  • Enterprise-scale endpoint management and patching.
  • Experience with MDM/UEM solutions such as:
    • Microsoft Intune
    • Jamf
    • ManageEngine
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Endpoint Security / EDR
    • Antivirus Management
    • Asset Management
    • Application & License Management
  • Experience with ITSM platforms and SLA-driven support operations.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Microsoft 365
    • Google Workspace
    • SaaS Access Governance
    • Identity & Access Management
    • Privileged Access Management (PAM)
  • Vendor management and stakeholder coordination expertise.
  • Strong process documentation, governance, and audit management skills.

Good-to-Have Skills

  • ITIL Certification.
  • Microsoft, Jamf, CompTIA, or other relevant infrastructure/security certifications.
  • Experience in high-growth, startup, or multi-location environments.
  • Exposure to regulated, compliance-heavy, or audit-intensive organizations.
  • Knowledge of cloud security, DLP, PAM, WAF, Zero Trust architectures, and CTEM programs.
  • Scripting and automation experience for IT operations.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
