Job Summary

Konark Group is seeking an experienced Senior Safety Officer / Safety Engineer to ensure the implementation and maintenance of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards across its project sites. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of safety regulations, risk assessment, and incident prevention, along with the ability to foster a culture of safety at the workplace.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures at project sites.


• Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.


• Prepare and implement safety plans, risk assessments, and method statements.


• Conduct safety induction and training programs for employees, contractors, and workers.


• Ensure proper usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols.


• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.


• Maintain records related to safety inspections, incidents, training, and statutory compliance.


• Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and management to promote a safe working environment.


• Monitor emergency preparedness, fire safety systems, and evacuation procedures.


• Ensure compliance with applicable statutory regulations and company safety policies.


• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports and present findings to management.

Qualifications

• Diploma / Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical preferred).


• Diploma / Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety from a recognized institute is mandatory.


• Additional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or OSHA will be an added advantage.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.


• Experience in conducting safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.


• Good understanding of incident investigation and root cause analysis.


• Proficiency in MS Office and report preparation.


• Excellent communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills.


• Ability to train and influence employees and contractors on safety practices.


• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Preferred Experience

• Minimum 8-10 years of experience in Safety, HSE, or EHS functions.


• Experience in construction, real estate, infrastructure, industrial, or engineering projects will be preferred.


• Exposure to statutory compliance, safety audits, and contractor safety management.


• Experience in implementing company-wide safety initiatives and improving safety culture will be an added advantage.
