Educational Qualification: 
Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc.) in Physics from a recognized University.
OR
Desirable: Master’s Degree (M.Sc.) in Physics / Applied Physics from a recognized University.
OR
Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with relevant Physics laboratory experience may also be considered as per University requirements.

Work Experience:
Minimum two years of experience in relevant area of industry/educational institutions offering degree/diploma courses in Engineering.
Preference will be given to candidates having relevant experience in handling Physics laboratories in Engineering Colleges, Universities, Polytechnic Institutes, Research Laboratories, or Scientific Organizations.

Job Description:

The Laboratory Assistant – Engineering Physics shall be responsible for supporting academic, laboratory, and technical activities of the Engineering Physics Department.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist faculty members and students during practical sessions, laboratory demonstrations, experiments, and project activities.

  2. Prepare and arrange laboratory setups, experimental apparatus, materials, and instruments required for conducting practical experiments.

  3. Assist in conducting and maintaining Engineering Physics laboratories including:

    • Optics Laboratory

    • Fiber Optics Laboratory

    • Laser Physics Laboratory

    • Semiconductor and Electronics Laboratory

    • Modern Physics Laboratory

    • Material Science Laboratory

    • Quantum Physics Laboratory

    • Mechanics and Oscillation Laboratory

    • Physics Measurement and Instrumentation Laboratory

  4. Operate, maintain, and ensure proper functioning of laboratory instruments such as:

    • Spectrometers

    • Optical benches

    • Laser experimental setups

    • Photodiodes and sensors

    • Semiconductor testing equipment

    • Digital and analog measuring instruments

    • Oscilloscopes and related apparatus

  5. Maintain laboratory records including:

    • Equipment inventory

    • Consumable registers

    • Experiment records

    • Calibration records

    • Maintenance and service reports

  6. Assist faculty members in preparing laboratory manuals, experimental setups, demonstrations, and teaching-learning resources.

  7. Ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper handling of laboratory equipment, chemicals, electrical instruments, and experimental materials.

  8. Assist in procurement, installation, testing, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

  9. Support departmental requirements related to accreditation documentation, laboratory inspections, audits, and institutional activities.

  10. Follow laboratory safety procedures and institutional policies for safe operation of scientific instruments.

  11. Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Department / Competent Authority related to departmental requirements.
