Manage complex cable system designs for global tenders

As a Lead Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the technical integrity of our high-voltage cable systems. You will analyse tender requirements, perform advanced calculations, and support the Lead Engineer in delivering high-quality technical proposals. Your work will directly benefit the tenders and projects, aligning with NKT’s commitment to engineering excellence and sustainability.

Your responsibility will be to:

1. Analyse tender requirements and design cable systems


2. Perform thermal, electrical, and mechanical calculations


3. Compile and present technical documentation to clients


4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams across departments


5. Ensure compliance with internal and international standards

You will be part of the Engineering team under the UET department, reporting to the Engineering Manager – Tenders and Projects. This position is based in Chennai, with occasional collaboration across global teams.

Structured and collaborative engineer with precision

We are looking for a structured and methodical individual who thrives in a collaborative environment. You are results-oriented, detail-focused, and take full ownership of your work. Your effective communication skills and motivated approach make you a valuable individual who can navigate complex technical challenges with confidence.

You also have:

1. A master’s degree in electrical engineering


2. 2–5 years of experience in cable system design


3. Proficiency in thermal/electrical calculations


4. Experience compiling technical documentation for tenders


5. Familiarity with remote team collaboration


6. Experience with AutoCAD
