Lead Engineer - Embedded Software

## What you\u2019ll do:\n\nThe primary responsibility of Lead Engineer - Embedded Firmware will be to lead the technical development of Embedded Software for various product developments by effectively leveraging Agile best practices. In this role,he/she will functionally report to the Chief Engineers Office Head in EIIC and will be responsible for system-level requirements analysis, architecture, design, development and other team development processes. The person will support building innovation in embedded system architecture for product differentiation. Contribution of this role will bring competitive advantage of EATON products in market. \nSuccess in this position requires the ability to drive and standardize embedded software design and development across business unit, strong motivation for pursuing project objectives and the ability to learn new techniques and development processes. We are looking for candidates who are able to see the bigger picture; strength in a system-level viewpoint is a must.This position will be based in EIIC,Pune in Chief Engineer\u0027s Office - Power Electronics. \n\n1\\. Understand top level product requirement and create more detail sub-system requirements to meet top level product requirement \n2\\. Define software architecture to meet customer / product requirement \n3\\. Understand hardware circuit \u2013 Analog Circuits, Digital Electronics, Embedded hardware circuits and Power Electronics \n4\\. Evaluate system performance requirements and model future requirements to identify and mitigate risks. Collaborate with the hardware team to support development and testing. \n5\\. Design and implement software of embedded devices and systems from requirements to production and commercial deployment \n6\\. Stage work and delegate appropriate aspects of design and implementation to other developers, ensuring compliance with architecture and systems/design requirements \n7\\. Lead complex system interface design activities and lead the resolution of integration issues across multiple engineering disciplines \n8\\. Collaborate with product owners/Managers, functional managers, systems engineering to distill product/system/design requirements/use cases to firmware designs/stories, size stories, developing module \u0026 system level code, and unit tests \n9\\. Design, develop, code, test, and debug system software for Embedded devices \n10\\. Analyze and enhance efficiency, stability, and scalability of system resources \n11\\. Mentor other engineers and Review code and design \n12\\. Lead technical discussion and design reviews with vendors and cross-function groups \n13\\. Support test and validation plan created in accordance with industry standards and customer requirements. \n14\\. Comply with Development Process \n15\\. Establish and maintain a collaborative working relationship with key stakeholders e.g. vendors, customers, Product Marketing etc. \n16\\. Identify and leverage new technologies to enhance product features, improve quality/efficiency/collaboration. \n17\\. Participate in DevOps for embedded software delivery by extending Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for one or more software release streams per product family \n18\\. Demonstrate technical leadership level contributions with Linux and/or RTOS based embedded systems as well as coach and mentor other team members with respect to technology, architecture, design principles, and coding practices.\n\n## Qualifications:\n\nBachelor\u2019s/Master\u0027s Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from an accredited institution required.\n\n\u2022 10 + years of design \u0026 development experience of embedded system software - RTOS, C, Embedded Linux, C++. \n\u2022 Low level device driver development for different peripherals e.g. CAN, RS485, SPI, Ethernet, ADC etc. \n\u2022 Experience in Board bring-up, Boot loader development \n\u2022 Experience in RTOS, Embedded Linux \n\u2022 Excellent programming skills in embedded C/C++ \n\u2022 Experience in different microcontrollers. STM based experience would be added advantage \n\u2022 Application design and development for embedded systems \n\u2022 Modbus over RS485/TCP, TCP/IP protocols, EtherCAT \n\u2022 Experience in electrical product development. \n\u2022 Strong debugging and problem-solving skills. \n\u2022 JIRA, Confluence, Blackduck, Coverity, GitHub \n\u2022 Able to understand and review hardware schematic. \n\u2022 Familiar with CI/CD process \n\u2022 Ability to work in Agile Scrum Environment \n\u2022 Experience with multi-core embedded systems\n\n## Skills:\n\n\u2022Demonstrated competency with device drivers, embedded applications, networking and related areas primarily using C and C++ as programming languages. \n\u2022Demonstrated competency with embedded software development environment and tools for real-time operating systems (RTOS), FreeRTOS, or Embedded Linux \n\u2022Demonstrated competency using or designing systems that use network protocols such as Serial, TCP/IP, Ethernet, EtherCAT \n\u2022Capable to lead technical resources \n\u2022 Familiar with cybersecurity best practices \n\u2022Strong understanding of real-time operating system (RTOS) concepts, Linux \n\u2022Ability to work effectively in an Agile Scrum (or other iterative development) environment \n\u2022 Experience in EV charger domain and Data Center HV power systems would an added advantage\n\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills \n\\- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills \n\\- Self-motivated to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision \n\\- Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment \n\\- Strong planning and organizational skills\n
