Position Purpose

The Lead Instrumentation is responsible to plan and drive Instrumentation maintenance activities and perform uninterrupted economic power generation safely while meeting all statutory and organizational requirements within budgeted costs and time. The role is also responsible for leading instrumentation maintenance and installation activities safely while meeting all statutory and organizational requirements within budgeted costs and time. The role also involves helping Head Asset Management & Engineering in preparing budgets of respective areas.

Strategic Responsibilities


  • Assist Head Engineering in techno commercial inputs pertaining to Instrumentation installations, legal, guidelines, practices and policies matters on Instrumentation maintenance and power generation

  • Assist in manpower selections and utilization related to plant maintenance

  • Assist in techno commercial matters pertaining to instruments and software, legal, guidelines, practices and policies matters on instrumentation

Operational Responsibilities


  • Direct, coordinate and supervise all instrumentation maintenance and workshop activities at site

  • Meet statutory and organizational requirements related to activities such as:


o   Legal requirements related to weighs and measure

o   Legal requirements related to Instrumentation installations

o   Customer requirements and guidelines


  • System management related to plant maintenance:


o   Maintain ISO systems

o   Establish, review and modify systems, guidelines, procedures and formats as per need

o   Ensure proper recode keeping and timely analysis of data


  • Engineering Vendor development and evaluation

  • Equipment selections and specification changes related to instruments and software

  • Improvements in inventory management related to instrumentation

  • Preparation of various reports and analysis

  • Implement energy saving program in the organization

  • Standardize specifications and vendors related to engineering items

  • Perform analysis of data and implement action plan evaluated from cause analysis

  • Ensure safe practices in the function and people

  • Develop logic sequence, graphics and interlock

  • Work with software vendors to translate logic into DCS systems – Factory Acceptance test (FAT)

  • Prepare Fuel, CAPEX and plant maintenance budgets

  • Implement the cost saving measures in the maintenance function

  • Control CAPEX, fuel and plant maintenance budget by effective control

  • Ensure power generation, distribution facilities are maintained and run efficiently

Education Qualification

B.E Instrumentation

Work Experience

9-14 years in Instrumentation Maintenance


Must have worked as team lead of combined function of Instrumentation

Industry to be Hired from

Agro-Pharma-Fine-Chemicals


Functional Competencies

  • Ability to handle day to day maintenance and operation of Instrumentation maintenance with the help of engineers
  • Ability to solve technical issues
  • Possesses manpower handling and counselling abilities
  • Knowledge of QMS and ISO systems
  • Good Technical knowledge of own as well as related fields
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Preferably qualified Energy manager
