Lead Process Technology

Position Description

Position Purpose

The incumbent in this role will support the Head R&D in implementing process development strategy to improve the performance of PI’s CSM AgChem business, covering all aspects of process development, process optimization, product lifecycle management and analytics. The role is also responsible for generating new intellectual property for PI, ensuring knowledge and program management of multiple projects.

Strategic Responsibilities

• Maintain awareness of industry and technology trends to ensure that PI is current in development efforts to supply new and innovative offerings


• Develop and implement technology roadmap for PI


• Participate in the business meetings & provide inputs for further growth of business of the company


• Collaborate with Head New Customer Development and contribute new technology trends of matching interests to new and existing customers


• Making significant contribution by way of developing given chemistries and new patents


• Set benchmarks for quick TAT and innovation

Operational Responsibilities

• Drive optimization of new processes and proactively ensure support to the business development department to proactively generate new business


• Drive implementation of strategic cost reduction projects for commercialized molecules to achieve targeted cost reduction


• Drive process development & optimization to offer an enhanced value proposition in terms of more yield, less waste, less cost, higher quality to customers


• Support & assist in driving custom innovation to the synthesis route received from the customer


• Develop guidelines for lab synthesis and bench scale studies for scale up


• Drive effective program management and implementation of new systems & processes to enhance equipment & resource efficiency


• Drive effective analytical technology transfer during scale-up


• Support Technology Transfer team during scale-up & commercialization


• Ensure desired quality and productivity of new molecules as per business plan

Financial Responsibilities

• Prepare a budget for the Process Technology function & drive adherence


• Develop KPIs to measure the performance of process technology department to ensure high productivity


• Generate new process IP


• Ensure timely generation of process safety data for HAZOP


• Ensure process sensitivity analysis with reference to input quality variance and process parameter variance are done and robust processes are given to KL/PP


• Ensure effective implementation of NABL. GLP and ISO management systems

People Responsibilities

• Drive initiatives for training need identification and building requisite skills & competencies through systematic training & professional development initiatives for the team


• Highlight workforce capacity gaps and need for recruitment in alignment with Corporate HR policies


• Actively sponsor, in conjunction with the Senior Management Team, the performance management process of the team

Education Qualification

Doctorate in Organic Chemistry from a reputed University - Tier 1 College

Work Experience

18-22 years of business R&D experience
