Job Description - Lead SAP CPI Developer



  • Serve as the final technical escalation point for complex incidents across SAP BTP Integration Suite (CPI), API Management, and Cloud Connector.

  • Support end-to-end integration projects involving SAP S/4HANA and satellite systems, ensuring successful connectivity and data consistency.

  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and system administrators to gather integration requirements and define comprehensive integration strategies.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues, working closely with technical teams to identify root causes and implement long-term corrective actions.

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on SAP S/4HANA integration processes, best practices, integration patterns, and industry standards.

  • Work with third-party vendors and external partners to integrate their systems with SAP S/4HANA, ensuring seamless interoperability and reliable data flow.

  • Perform deep-dive troubleshooting using iFlow traces, MPL logs, monitoring tools, adapter diagnostics, and security artifacts.

  • Investigate and resolve issues involving HTTPS, SFTP, AS2, SOAP, OData, IDoc, JDBC, and various CPI adapters.

  • Debug and optimize complex Groovy scripts (signatures, JWT creation, cryptography, transformations, dynamic header logic).

  • Correct and enhance iFlows, including message mappings, exception handling subflows, routing logic, and XML/JSON/CSV transformations.

  • Resolve authentication and security issues related to OAuth2, client certificates, X.509, private keys, trust stores, and keystore artifacts.

  • Conduct detailed Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and implement permanent fixes to prevent recurrence.

  • Analyze execution performance, optimize throughput, timeouts, retries, and improve overall CPI efficiency and stability.

  • Support production releases, manage transport packages, deploy new iFlow versions, and validate system readiness.

  • Ensure compliance with security and operational standards, including certificate renewals, key rotation, and secure credential storage.

  • Automate monitoring and alerting using CPI’s Alerting Framework and implement reusable error-handling patterns.

  • Create technical documentation, runbooks, and knowledge articles to support L1/L2 teams and improve operational efficiency.

  • Manage major incidents (P1/P2) with rapid diagnosis, technical leadership, and clear communication.

  • Lead the retrofit process to ensure SAP BTP environments remain synchronized across development, test, and production landscapes.
