Job Description - Lead Validation and Testing Engineer

Job Description Summary

As a member of a global, matrixed design and testing team, you will contribute to both new product introduction and sustaining support for existing products. The role focuses on validating GE hardware and software functionalities to ensure reliability and quality across all deliverables.
Define and develop comprehensive test strategies to thoroughly validate all hardware and software components of the GE PC Drives control platform, ensuring high product quality and defect-free delivery.
This role requires close collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, along with strong teamwork and an inclusive mindset. The candidate should be results-oriented and capable of working effectively within an Agile execution framework.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Define validation strategies for testing GE Power Conversion drive control platforms.
  • Develop test applications and automated scripts using generic scripting tools and Python to execute validation tasks.
  • Validate remote monitoring systems, KPIs, loggers, and GE VISOR systems.
  • Prepare comprehensive test plans, test cases, bug reports, and supporting documentation in alignment with quality standards.
  • Design and set up test rigs, selecting appropriate hardware and software for validation activities.
  • Manage the test laboratory, including planning hardware/tool requirements, maintaining inventory, and tracking component movements.
  • Conduct extensive regression testing and feature validation on Visor, Historian Lite, and Security Management Suite (SMS).
  • Knowledge on configure Visor systems for automated trip file transmission, PCVue web view integration, IBA connectivity, and access to the Visor Service Portal.
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts in Python to streamline validation processes.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Team Leads, and Developers to gain a deep technical understanding of product features and new implementations.
  • Engage with global stakeholders across multiple regions to ensure alignment and effective communication.
  • Prioritize customer issues, delivering timely resolutions to improve satisfaction and strengthen the customer experience index.
  • Execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles, while adhering to established business standards, practices, and product/program requirements.
  • Document technical data generated by assigned projects in alignment with established engineering policies and procedures.
  • Provide timely communication on significant issues or developments to ensure transparency and effective decision-making.
  • Actively participate in cross-functional teams addressing organizational initiatives and broad technical challenges.
     

    Qualifications/Requirements

    Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from reputed institutions.
  • Over 7 years of experience in industrial development, validation, and testing environments.
  • Proficient in programming languages: C, C++, C#, and Python.
  • Hands‑on expertise with GE RXi controllers and GE VISOR products (VISOR, HistorianLite, SMS, ALSPA‑Pilot).
  • Extensive experience in testing controller redundancy and managing test platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols including EtherCAT, CANbus, OPC, and OPC UA.
  • Skilled in networking technologies: Ethernet and TCP/IP.
  • Advanced debugging abilities and proficiency with scripting tools (Python).
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles.
