We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel – India to own and manage all legal, compliance, and regulatory matters for Turium’s Indian operations. You will work closely with leadership, HR, finance, and external advisors to ensure the business operates fully compliantly and efficiently under Indian law.
This is a hands-on, operational legal role, not a purely advisory position.
Key Responsibilities:
Corporate Governance & Statutory Compliance
Oversee ongoing compliance with the Companies Act, MCA filings, and statutory requirements
Maintain corporate records, statutory registers, and board documentation
Support corporate governance practices and regulatory reporting obligations
Coordinate with external advisors on corporate and regulatory matters
Employment & HR Legal Framework
Draft, review, and maintain India-compliant employment contracts, offer letters, and HR policies
Advise on Indian labour laws, including:
Shops & Establishments Acts
Industrial Disputes Act
Payment of Wages, Bonus, Gratuity, PF, ESIC
Support HR with compliant:
onboarding and offboarding processes
disciplinary actions
termination and exit documentation
Ensure people practices align with both Indian legal requirements and Turium’s global standards
Finance, Tax & Regulatory Coordination
Partner with finance teams on legal matters impacting:
statutory compliance
financial risk and obligations
Review agreements with vendors, consultants, and service providers
Support audits, inspections, and regulatory queries as required
Contracts & Commercial Legal
Draft, review, and negotiate:
vendor and service agreements
consultancy contracts
NDAs
technology and IP-related agreements
Ensure appropriate protections around IP ownership, confidentiality, and liability
Risk Management & Advisory
Act as the primary legal point of contact for India-based matters
Monitor changes in Indian laws affecting employment, finance, and operations
Proactively identify risks and recommend practical, business-aligned solutions
Liaise with external counsel and regulators when needed
Who We’re Looking For:
Experience
+2 years experience in corporate, employment, or compliance law
Experience supporting Indian operations for:
startups, scale-ups, or global companies
Proven negotiation skills, balancing commercial outcomes with long-term relationships.
Proven collaboration with HR and finance teams (must-have)
Qualifications
LLB / LLM from a recognised Indian institution
Licensed to practice law in India
Skills & Mindset
Strong working knowledge of Indian corporate and employment law
Practical, solution-oriented approach
Comfortable operating in fast-moving, evolving environments
Able to translate legal requirements into clear guidance for non-legal teams
High ownership mindset with strong attention to detail
