The Local Support Team Manager – BIW & Door Closures (Global Role) is a senior engineering leadership position responsible for end-to-end ownership of Body-in-White (BIW) and Door Closure systems across EV Passenger Car and Commercial Vehicle programs.
The role is India-based, with direct ownership of Indian programs and remote engineering support for Indonesia and Ha Tinh plants, ensuring:
- Alignment of design intent, manufacturability, and quality
- Robust BIW structural performance and closures integration
- Efficient problem resolution and change management
- Consistent execution across multi-vehicle platforms (EV PV & CV)
This position acts as the single point of contact between HQ, Plant Engineering, and suppliers, driving strong ownership, execution speed, and program readiness globally.
Key Responsibilities
1. End-to-End BIW & Door Closures Ownership
Own engineering scope for:
- BIW structures (underbody, upper body, reinforcements)
- Door systems (front/rear doors, tailgate, hood interfaces)
Support both:
- EV Passenger Vehicles (monocoque structures)
- Commercial Vehicles (ladder frame / reinforced BIW as applicable)
- Ensure alignment between design, plant feasibility, and regulatory requirements
2. Door Closures (DC) Leadership
Lead development of: Door inner/outer panels, hinges, latches, seals
Ensure performance in:
- Gap & flush, fit & finish
- Water sealing and air leakage
- NVH (wind noise and vibration)
- Durability across EV and CV duty cycles
- Resolve integration issues with BIW and body structure
3. EV-Specific BIW Integration
- Ensure BIW readiness for EV architecture, including:
- Battery pack integration interfaces
- Structural stiffness and crash load paths
- Weight optimization considerations
- Coordinate with powertrain and thermal teams for packaging
4. Global Engineering Coordination & HQ Interface
Act as single point of contact for BIW & Door Closures
Coordinate across:
- HQ Engineering
- India (direct ownership)
- Indonesia & Ha Tinh (remote support)
- Ensure global alignment across EV PV & CV platforms
