Role Overview:
This role focuses on creating effective communication and engagement initiatives to attract and retain donors, build the organization's reputation, and promote its impact among key stakeholders. As a central figure in a growing, ambitious organization, you will lead strategic communication efforts that contribute to donor acquisition, donor retention, thought leadership, ecosystem influence, and brand credibility.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Communications & Visibility
Develop and execute the organization's annual communications strategy.
Build visibility plans for core sectors including Climate Tech, Agriculture, Livelihoods, Health, Water, and Waste.
Create communication campaigns that support fundraising and organizational priorities.
Fundraising & Donor Communications
Support fundraising and donor renewal efforts.
Develop donor-facing communication assets including case studies, impact reports, newsletters, and event collateral.
Support communication requirements for proposals and donor engagement.
Thought Leadership & Knowledge Positioning
Develop and manage an annual thought leadership calendar.
Support leadership in producing blogs, articles, LinkedIn content, and conference material.
Content & Storytelling
Create compelling stories showcasing entrepreneurs, communities, government partnerships, and donor-supported impact.
Develop case studies, field stories, and deployment journeys.
Media Relations & Public Visibility
Build and maintain relationships with journalists and sector publications.
Secure earned media opportunities and support leadership visibility.
Digital Presence & Website Management
Own website content and optimization.
Drive SEO initiatives and website improvements.
Monitor website analytics and recommend enhancements.
Qualifications and Requirements
6–10 years of experience in communications, PR, content strategy, brand management, or development communications.
Strong writing and storytelling capability.
Proven experience developing communication strategies and campaigns.
Experience managing external agencies, designers, and freelancers.
Solid understanding of SEO, website management, and digital marketing.
Preferred: Experience in CSR, philanthropy, social enterprise, sustainability, or the development sector.
Key Deliverables
Lead communication efforts to strengthen donor engagement, support fundraising, build organizational visibility, and position the organization as a leading voice on innovation-led development.
Translate program learning into high-quality knowledge products.
