About the Position

Hoganas India is looking for someone to lead the Safety culture of Höganäs India ,based out of Ahmednagar. To lead and manage the organization’s safety, health and environmental ( program by preventing incidents, ensuring legal and standards compliance, and embedding a proactive safety culture. The role provides strategic direction, operational oversight and expert advice to leadership and sites, drives implementation of group standards and continuous improvement, and ensures workforce competence and readiness to deliver safe, sustainable operations

About the position

This position has overall responsibility for Environment, Health & Safety for Höganäs India, reporting to the Market President. The role will drive cultural change in Safety Leadership, implement safe systems of work, and ensure ongoing compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 and Höganäs groups standards

Permit to work is just one of our systems that need to be implemented, and the position will oversee all the standard implementations.

In addition the role will have responsibilities and knowledge in areas like:

  • Risk assessment & safety management systems (hazard ID, bow-tie, HAZOP)
  • Incident investigation & root cause analysis (e.g., TapRoot, 5 whys, RCA tools)
  • Permit-to-work, lockout/tagout and hazardous energy control
  • Working at height / fall protection and confined space entry procedures
  • Manual handling and ergonomics for workplace design
  • Fire safety and emergency response planning (including sprinkler/alarm systems)
  • Industrial hygiene basics (air monitoring, noise, chemical exposure)
  • COSHH / hazardous materials handling and spill response
  • Machine safety & guarding, PPE selection and machine risk reduction
  • Contractor management and safe systems for outsourced work
  • Behavioural safety and safety leadership / coaching skills
  • Mental health awareness and wellbeing at work
  • Data analysis & safety performance metrics (TRIFR, leading indicators, MIA use)
  • Legal compliance and local regulatory training (country-specific)
  • Communication, negotiation and change-management skills
  • First aid / advanced first aid and AED training

Your profile

You should be someone with a Graduation with an advance diploma/qualification/certification in Industrial Safety from a reputed Institution. Someone with NEBOSH Diploma or national equivalent (advanced occupational safety) would be a strong advantage. Should have excellent communication skills, influencing skills, ability to work independently without much supervision. Though the position is based out of the Ahmednagar plant, the person would have to travel to Pune office for atleast 3-4 days a month. You should be having an experience of minimum of 8 years of experience.

Some other requirements are:

  • Advise and support leadership teams on all aspects of  Environment ,Health & Safety(EHS), prioritizing implementation of group initiatives and driving site-level actions to deliver continuous EHS improvement aligned with the Höganäs goal of zero accidents and incidents.
  • Develop, coordinate and roll out Höganäs group EHS strategies that align with the corporate strategy, ensuring holistic coverage of environmental sustainability, workplace conditions, management systems and safety-critical behaviours.
  • Ensure compliance with company EHS principles, policies and ISO requirements, and with applicable local legislation. Act as a visible champion for regulatory and policy adherence.
  • Create and implement practical tools and initiatives to raise SHE awareness and capability, monitor and analyse EHS performance, and communicate insights to inform better decision‑making. Share lessons learned and best practices across the Höganäs group and actively contribute to Zone and Global initiatives.

Advise and support Country management to build their ownership and capability to integrate SHE into business planning and to drive measurable improve
