HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organizations in the world, with operations in 62 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realize their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Manager Global Investment Restrictions

Purpose of the role

A strategic global programme is being delivered to strengthen the operating model for investment restrictions. This role sits within a central team of Investment Restrictions Specialists and is responsible for the consistent set-up, testing, monitoring and governance of investment restriction rules across all production locations. The role covers both business-as-usual activity and change initiatives that support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the global target operating model, including strong oversight, clear quality standards and meaningful management information.
In this role, you will:

  • Ensure high quality and consistent management of centrally owned investment restriction rules, including rule set-up, rule testing and end-of-day monitoring on Bloomberg Asset and Investment Manager.

  • Partner with global stakeholders across Front Office, Product, Risk, Compliance, Data and Technology to translate mandate requirements into practical, enforceable investment restriction rules.

  • Support the development and ongoing operation of a robust global governance framework for investment restrictions, including clear ownership, controls and escalation routes.

  • Produce and contribute to management information that provides global oversight of investment restriction processes, with the ability to drill down to detailed root causes and actions.

  • Define, maintain and continuously improve quality standards, best practices and operating procedures for rule set-up, testing and monitoring.

  • Build and maintain an easy-to-use best practice library and promote knowledge sharing across onshore and offshore teams.

  • Work with Data Management teams to define data requirements and improve data quality and availability needed for effective monitoring.

  • Maintain a strong control environment by complying with internal instructions and external regulatory requirements, and by identifying, reporting and mitigating operational risks.

To be successful you will:

  • Have strong experience in investment restrictions processes, with at least five years in a relevant role.

  • Demonstrate good knowledge of key regulatory frameworks applicable to asset management mandates, including Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities and the United States Investment Company Act of 1940.

  • Be confident interpreting fund documentation such as investment management agreements, prospectuses and mandate guidelines.

  • Have hands-on experience translating guidelines into rules, including negotiation, rule set-up, testing and monitoring in pre-trade and or post-trade environments.

  • Bring strong knowledge of Bloomberg market data and practical experience using Bloomberg Asset and Investment Manager or Charles River Investment Management System.

  • Have proven test management and test execution capability (two years’ experience is desirable).

  • Communicate clearly and confidently in business-fluent English, with additional languages being an advantage, and be comfortable working across time zones and cultures.

  • Be a university graduate with at least seven years of industry experience, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint (and working knowledge of Microsoft Access and Microsoft Visio).
