Position: Manager – Locomotive Maintenance
(WDG3A)
Location: Kajora, West Bengal
Organization: Knowteq Equipcare LLP
Department: Operations & Maintenance
Reporting To: Head – Operations / Business Unit Head
Compensation: Salary as per the company's maintenance salary band,
commensurate with qualifications, experience, and interview assessment.

Position Summary

Knowteq
Equipcare LLP is seeking an experienced and technically competent Manager –
Locomotive Maintenance to lead the maintenance, inspection, reliability,
and operational readiness of WDG3A locomotive engines deployed across Kolkata
Port, Durgapur Steel Thermal Power Station (DSTPS), and Haldia Port. The
incumbent will be responsible for ensuring maximum equipment availability,
adherence to safety and quality standards, and effective management of
maintenance personnel.

The role
requires frequent travel between Kajora, Kolkata, Haldia, and Durgapur and
offers opportunities for expanded responsibilities as the company's locomotive
maintenance business grows.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and monitor
  preventive, predictive, breakdown, and overhauling maintenance activities
  of WDG3A locomotive engines.
  
• Ensure high equipment
  availability, reliability, and operational efficiency while minimizing
  downtime.
  
• Conduct technical
  inspections, fault diagnosis, root cause analysis, and implement effective
  corrective actions.
  
• Lead and supervise a
  multidisciplinary team of mechanics, electricians, technicians, and
  contract personnel.
  
• Develop maintenance
  schedules, inspection checklists, and standard operating procedures
  (SOPs).
  
• Ensure compliance with all
  applicable safety regulations, quality standards, statutory requirements,
  and customer operating procedures.
  
• Coordinate with clients at
  Kolkata Port, DSTPS, and Haldia Port regarding maintenance planning,
  shutdown schedules, and operational requirements.
  
• Monitor engine performance
  parameters and recommend improvements for reliability and cost
  optimization.
  
• Ensure proper inventory
  planning and availability of critical spare parts, consumables, and
  maintenance tools.
  
• Maintain accurate
  maintenance records, inspection reports, service histories, and technical
  documentation.
  
• Prepare daily, weekly, and
  monthly maintenance reports and present performance metrics to management.
  
• Support commissioning,
  testing, troubleshooting, and major overhauling activities whenever
  required.
  
• Train, mentor, and evaluate
  maintenance personnel to improve technical competency and productivity.
  
• Coordinate with procurement,
  stores, logistics, and engineering teams for uninterrupted maintenance
  support.
  
• Drive continuous improvement
  initiatives focusing on safety, reliability, productivity, and maintenance
  excellence.
  
• Support business expansion
  by establishing maintenance systems and leading new locomotive maintenance
  projects across additional customer locations.
  

Educational Qualification

• B.Tech in Mechanical
  Engineering from a recognized university.
  
• Additional certifications in
  diesel locomotive maintenance, reliability engineering, or maintenance
  management will be an added advantage.
  

Experience

• Significant hands -on
  experience in maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and overhaul of WDG3A
  or equivalent diesel locomotive engines.
  
• Experience in industrial
  locomotive operations, ports, steel plants, rail infrastructure, mining,
  or heavy engineering environments is preferred.
  
• Proven experience in leading
  maintenance teams and managing site operations.
  
• Strong understanding of
  diesel engine systems, transmission, braking systems, compressors, cooling
  systems, fuel systems, electrical systems, and auxiliary equipment.
