Job Description - Manager News Alert

News Alert, an established web-based news channel, is looking to hire a Manager for its Gujrat office.

Job Summary:

The News Alert Manager will oversee and manage all day-to-day operations across News Alert's digital platforms. This includes team management, editorial direction, audience growth, and content monetization strategies. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with social media platforms, video production, and managing news content operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

Lead overall digital content strategy and planning aligned with News Alert's vision and growth goals.
Track performance, analyse trends, and suggest data-driven improvements.
Collaborate with management on major content decisions and initiatives.

Content Supervision

Oversee daily news coverage, video publishing, and content scheduling across all platforms (Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Twitter).
Ensure timely, fact-checked, and high-impact news and current affairs content.
Approve content topics, thumbnails, titles, and scripts for optimization.

Team Management

Supervise a team of editors, reporters, content writers, and video editors across Pakistan and the UK.
Manage daily workflows, assign tasks, and conduct performance reviews.
Coordinate with in-house and outsourced reporters, ensuring timely submissions and quality control.
Hire and train new team members when required.

Platform Growth & Optimization

Increase reach, followers, and watch time on all digital platforms.
Monitor platform-specific metrics (Meta Creator Studio, YouTube Studio, TikTok Analytics) to guide decisions.
Lead experimentation on content formats such as short videos, behind-the-scenes, memes, and regional content.

Monetization & Brand Collaborations

Oversee monetization of Facebook (in-stream ads), YouTube (AdSense), and branded campaigns.
Coordinate with marketing and business teams to secure brand deals and sponsorships.
Explore new monetization models (Rights Manager, subscriptions, collaborations).

Compliance & Crisis Management

Ensure adherence to platform policies and respond to content flags, copyright claims, or community violations.
Liaise with platforms to recover suspended pages or accounts.
Maintain a strong understanding of rights management, especially to protect original content.

Qualifications & Experience:

Master’s degree in Journalism, Digital Media, Mass Communication, or related field.
4+ years of experience in digital media, preferably in a newsroom or fast-paced online content environment.
Proven experience in managing social platforms with large audiences.
Excellent news judgment and familiarity with the Pakistani media landscape.

Team leadership and task delegation.
Content strategy and analytics.
Platform monetization and ad optimization.
Video publishing and trending content.
Strong communication skills (Urdu and English)
Ability to adapt to experimental and innovative content formats.
