Role: Policy Engagement Manager, Chandigarh Experience: 6–8 years Salary: upto 20 LPA Note: Candidates with strong public policy research experience and government engagement experience will be preferred.
We are looking for a Policy Engagement Manager to lead policy engagement initiatives with policymakers and government stakeholders. This role sits at the intersection of public policy research and project implementation, focusing on developing and implementing policy solutions aligned with Project DEEP's mission. The role involves conducting research, developing policy recommendations, managing projects, and building relationships with government bodies, think tanks, and academic institutions. The candidate will be expected to translate research insights into actionable policy recommendations that drive systems-level change.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Policy Research and Analysis
Policy Research: Conduct primary and secondary research on social policies and governance issues aligned with organizational priorities.
Data Analysis: Analyse policy guidelines, budgets, reports, and official data sources to derive insights.
Policy Writing: Draft policy briefs, concept notes, research reports, and presentations tailored to state contexts.
Policy Innovation: Develop and evaluate research ideas to improve and innovate cash transfer and social policy programs.
2. Project Management
Project Planning: Develop engagement plans for projects with state governments and research institutions.
Execution: Lead and manage projects end-to-end, ensuring timely delivery and quality outcomes.
3. Stakeholder Engagement
Government Engagement: Liaise with bureaucrats, policymakers, and government stakeholders along with the leadership team.
Partnership Building: Build and maintain relationships with academics, researchers, and policy experts.
Capacity Building: Support internal teams in understanding public policy research, evaluation frameworks, and policy writing.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Experience: 6–8 years in the development sector, public policy research, governance projects, or social sector policy work.
Research Skills: Strong secondary research, policy analysis, data interpretation, and familiarity with evaluation frameworks and research tools.
Communication: Ability to present complex research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences through reports, briefs, and presentations.
Stakeholder Management: Experience working with government stakeholders, bureaucrats, political leadership, and multi-stakeholder partnerships.
Policy Knowledge: Understanding of social policy, governance, poverty alleviation, cash transfer programs, and social protection systems in India.
Work Style: Ability to work in fast-paced environments, manage ambiguity, and adapt to evolving organisational needs.
Travel: Willingness to travel for field visits, program implementation understanding, and stakeholder meetings.
