The Manager – Product Design is responsible for supporting end-to-end production operations, including scheduling, raw material planning, and order management. This role acts as a critical bridge between the production, design, and administrative teams to ensure a smooth workflow, consistent product quality, and timely delivery. Additionally, the position contributes to design development for vocational products such as candles, bags, and handicrafts.
1. Production Coordination & Planning
Scheduling: Support day-to-day production scheduling and workflow tracking across all product lines.
Team Coordination: Work with instructors, caretakers, and artisans to ensure orders are completed on time and meet quality standards.
Monitoring: Proactively identify and flag production bottlenecks or delays.
2. Design & Product Development:
Creative Translation: Collaborate with the Head of the Sheltered Workshop to turn creative concepts into market-ready products like candles, diyas, bags, and torans.
Market Research: Research market trends and new product opportunities.
Documentation: Maintain product specifications, prototypes, samples, and design records.
3. Vendor & Material Management
Sourcing: Identify and source high-quality raw materials and manage supplier relationships.
Negotiation: Negotiate pricing, quality, and delivery timelines with vendors.
Inventory: Maintain updated records of suppliers, pricing, and material inventory levels.
4. Logistics & Order Management
Tracking: Track incoming and outgoing orders, ensuring accurate packaging, labeling, and documentation.
Exhibition Support: Coordinate logistics for exhibitions, bulk orders, and client deliveries.
Reconciliation: Support inventory reconciliation for all orders and dispatches.
5. Training & Documentation
Upskilling: Assist in organizing artisan workshops and training on new production techniques.
Reporting: Prepare weekly and monthly production and sales reports to support organizational decision-making.
Progress Tracking: Document artisan progress and product development milestones.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelors degree in Design or Product Design.
Experience: 5–7 years in production coordination, design support, or operational roles.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel and Google Sheets.
Sector Knowledge: Experience in a social sector production environment is a plus.
Soft Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and timelines effectively.
