Job Title:  Manager – Standards & Practices


 


Purpose: Reporting to the Head - Standards & Practices and Grievance Officer, this role is responsible for reviewing of content/scripts/surround content, etc for our Digital platform(s) SonyLIV (South Indian languages) and Linear Channels, for ensuring adherence to standards and regulatory guidelines, and protecting the Network’s image.


Education: Graduate / Post-Graduate. Fluency in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, English, and Kannada is a must.


Experience: Minimum 6 years of relevant experience


 Location: Mumbai/ Bangalore


 Reporting Relationship: Head - Standards & Practices and Grievance Officer


 Business/Channel/Function: Legal and S&P


 Key Responsibilities:



  • To review all content/scripts surround content, etc. for our Digital(s) platform and Linear Channels within the stipulated timelines.

  • To ensure quality checks on language for all shows by adhering to SPN’s guidelines & policies

  • Drafting guidelines, disclaimers, responses to complaints, etc.

  • Equipping self with the changing compliance guidelines to ensure abidance of the IT Rules 2021, MIB, CTN Rules ASCI, and other such regulatory bodies and their regulations of the countries/regions that we operate in.

  • Executing integration of new work systems/processes into existing work streams

  • To provide Programming inputs as and when required in terms of sensitive issues concerning children, women, obscenity, violence, current and social issues.

  • To ensure the content is error free, it has an eye for detail.

  • To monitor compliance of all relevant codes/ norms/ laws/ guidelines.

  • To ensure commercials adhere to ASCI - Legal, honest, decent, defend claims.

  • Maintaining & updating relevant database to ensure availability of S&P information regularly.

  • Escalating sensitive cases, coordinating between various teams and ensure material that complies with the law & regulatory bodies goes live/on air.

  • To carry out any other tasks or responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.

  • Working within deadlines.

  • Must be self-driven and motivated to take initiatives.

  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to handle pressure situations with alacrity.

  • Incumbent must have multitasking ability. Timely and efficient delivery is the key.

  • Must be able to get the job done by working collaboratively with others.


Critical Competencies: Technical



  • Good knowledge of current affairs, especially relating to content

  • General awareness of laws on content creation and certification

  • Sensibility about sociological trends on cultural sensitivities in the Indian context

  • Should be well versed with excels, power point and should be able to efficiently navigate through the various tools required for the process of compliance.
