Job Description - Mechanical Manager

## The group you\u2019ll be a part of\n\nWETS Deposition group at Lam India Global Hardware Technology (LIGHT) is hiring a Mechanical Manager for its product development and product ownership team.\n\n## The impact you\u2019ll make\n\nAs a Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of mechanical engineers responsible for the design, development, and delivery of complex mechanical and electro\u2011mechanical systems used in semiconductor manufacturing equipment. This role combines strong technical leadership with first\u2011level people management and execution ownership for assigned subsystems and programs.\n\nYou will be accountable for technical quality, schedule, and execution excellence within assigned program and subsystem scope.\n\n## What you\u2019ll do\n\nTechnical \u0026 Program Execution\n\n * Own and deliver subsystem\u2011level mechanical designs for semiconductor processing equipment (e.g., process chambers, chemical delivery, frames, thermal subsystems, automation interfaces, and motion-controlled assemblies).\n * Accountable for the team output in Conceptualization, development, verification and documentation of fluid delivery systems to meet the systems specifications.\n * Organize feasibility studies, design approaches and test plans to characterize and validate design performance including full life cycle support.\n * Prepare high-quality reports, KPI measuring and technical presentations to clearly communicate design intent, evaluation, and validation to a diverse audience in design reviews.\n * Provide key deliverables including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), technical specifications, risk analysis, test specifications, and design review presentations.\n * Provide hands\u2011on technical guidance across structural, thermal, flow, and electromechanical domains throughout Product Design and Release (PDR) lifecycle.\n * Issue resolutions by escalation through appropriate channels.\n * Own deployment of change management initiatives driven by companywide digital transformation.\n * Manage lab operations for assigned product(s) covering scheduling, utilization, and retrofit execution for test needs.\n * Ensure global process compliance and KPI ownership for assigned product(s) through the team.\n\n\n\nPeople Management \u0026 Team Leadership\n\n * Lead a first\u2011level team of 6\u201310 engineers with clear direction and feedback.\n * Create WBS, assign projects, set priorities, and track execution against commitments.\n * Mentor engineers on technical rigor, design quality, and Lam processes.\n * Support IDPs and skill development aligned to program needs.\n * Participate in hiring and onboarding with senior leadership and HR.\n * Own contingency workforce planning to ensure short\u2011 and mid\u2011term business continuity.\n\n\n\nCross\u2011Functional Collaboration\n\n * Partner with electrical, systems, software, process, supplier, and program teams.\n * Communicate status, risks, and mitigation plans clearly to stakeholders.\n\n\n\nStandards, Process \u0026 Continuous Improvement\n\n * Ensure compliance with Lam engineering standards and processes.\n * Contribute to BKMs and local design standard improvements.\n * Drive Innovation, Cost reduction and Continuous improvement culture within the team.\n\n\n\n## Who we\u2019re looking for\n\n * Education: B.E. / B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering\n * Experience: 10\u201314 years of relevant experience, preferably in semiconductor or complex capital equipment engineering\n * Prior first\u2011level people management Experience is preferred\n * Hands-on experimental and design background coupled with solid engineering skills\n\n\n\n## Preferred qualifications\n\n * Technical Expertise \u2013 Guides and reviews subsystem designs effectively in Fluid transfer systems domain.\n * Delivery Execution \u2013 Delivers assigned scope on time and with quality.\n * Problem Solving \u2013 Resolves issues using structured methods.\n * People Leadership \u2013 Leads and develops the team through clear direction.\n * Collaboration \u2013 Works well with cross\u2011functional partners.\n * Process Discipline \u2013 Follows engineering standards and best practices \u0026 Drives CIP programs.\n\n\n\n## Our commitment\n\n \n\nWe believe it is important for every person to feel valued, included, and empowered to achieve their full potential. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories \u2013 On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. \u2018On-site Flex\u2019 you\u2019ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. \u2018Virtual Flex\u2019 you\u2019ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.\n
