Urgent Hiring – Medical Director

Location: Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh

Hospital: 120-Bed Multi-Speciality | Tertiary Care | NABH-Aspirant

Position Summary

The Medical Director will serve as the apex clinical and operational leader of the hospital, with overall responsibility for clinical governance, patient safety, quality, regulatory compliance, medical staff leadership, financial performance, strategic growth, and institutional brand development.

The role is particularly suited for a senior healthcare leader capable of transforming a commissioning-stage hospital into a preferred regional centre of clinical excellence across Eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Qualification

• MBBS – NMC recognised

• MD Anaesthesiology – Mandatory

• Valid current NMC Registration – Mandatory

• MBA / MHA / Master's in Hospital Administration – Preferred

• NABH Internal Assessor Certification – Preferred

• JCI Standards Training / Exposure – Preferred

• HIMS / EMR implementation experience – Preferred

• Fellowship in Hospital Administration / Healthcare Leadership – Added Advantage

Experience Required

• Minimum 5 years of experience as Medical Director

• Leadership experience in a minimum 100-bed multi-speciality hospital

• At least one greenfield hospital commissioning experience from planning through go-live

• Experience in Tier-2 / Tier-3 healthcare markets

• Hands-on experience with hospital P&L, budgeting and revenue management

• NABH accreditation experience

• Strong experience in consultant recruitment and retention

• Knowledge of UP healthcare market and medical fraternity will be preferred

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Governance

• Lead clinical governance across all departments

• Chair the Medical Advisory Committee

• Establish clinical protocols, treatment guidelines and clinical pathways

• Ensure safe, ethical and patient-centric care

• Lead M&M reviews, infection control and clinical audit committees

• Oversee credentialing and privileging of medical staff

• Serve as the final clinical escalation authority for complex cases

Clinical Operations

• Oversee OPD, IPD, OT, ICU, NICU, Emergency, Dialysis, Laboratory and Radiology operations

• Monitor bed occupancy, ALOS, OT utilisation, patient flow and satisfaction

• Improve operational efficiency and reduce bottlenecks

• Lead emergency preparedness, disaster management and mass-casualty planning

Quality, Patient Safety & NABH

• Lead NABH preparation, implementation and accreditation activities

• Monitor quality indicators and patient safety goals

• Implement incident reporting, RCA and CAPA systems

• Strengthen infection prevention, medication safety and clinical documentation

• Maintain hospital risk register and ensure risk mitigation

• Prepare the organisation for future JCI readiness

Medical Staff Leadership

• Plan medical manpower requirements

• Lead recruitment, onboarding and credentialing of consultants and medical officers

• Conduct performance reviews and develop clinical leaders

• Promote interdisciplinary teamwork, staff engagement and retention

Regulatory Compliance

Ensure compliance with applicable requirements including:

• NABH and Clinical Establishment Act

• NMC guidelines

• Biomedical Waste Management Rules

• PCPNDT and MTP regulations

• AERB requirements

• Blood Bank / Blood Storage regulations

• Pharmacy and drug licensing requirements

• Fire safety regulations

• Labour and employee safety requirements

• MLC protocols and documentation

• Government inspections and statutory reporting

Financial & Business Management

• Participate in hospital P&L management and budgeting

• Improve departmental profitability and consultant productivity

• Identify revenue enhancement opportunities

• Reduce revenue leakage through better documentation, billing and TPA processes

• Manage Ayushman Bharat and other government insurance empanelment

• Develop corporate tie-ups and institutional contracts

• Participate in CAPEX and infrastructure planning

Strategic Growth & Brand Building

• Develop 3-year clinical growth and 5-year expansion strategies

• Launch new specialties and Centres of Excellence

• Build referral networks across Eastern Uttar Pradesh

• Represent the hospital at medical forums and conferences

• Drive health camps, community outreach and preventive healthcare initiatives

• Support clinically credible marketing and doctor-branding initiatives

Greenfield Hospital Commissioning

• Clinical workflow and department planning

• ICU, NICU, OT, Emergency, Dialysis, Laboratory and Radiology commissioning

• Equipment planning and vendor evaluation

• SOP and policy development

• Medical recruitment and onboarding

• Service launch planning and readiness checks

• Mock drills and trial runs

• Go-live command structure and issue management

• Operational stabilisation during the first 6–12 months

Digital Healthcare & Documentation

• Drive HIMS/EMR adoption across clinical departments

• Ensure complete and accurate medical documentation

• Develop clinical and operational dashboards

• Promote telemedicine, AI-assisted diagnostics and remote monitoring

• Ensure data privacy and cybersecurity awareness

• Develop audit-ready governance and documentation systems aligned with NABH/JCI
