Medical Doctor

******PLEASE NOTE THIS ROLE IS BASED OVERSEAS ON THE SOLOMON ISLANDS*******************

International SOS Medical Services operate in countries where international standards of medical care are not available or where cultural or language barriers make it difficult to receive appropriate health care. The Medical Service (MS) arm provides site specific medical services to global clients as determined by individual client contracts. We are currently looking for a Site Medical Officer to support our project in the Solomon Islands.

Purpose of role -

Patient Care

Undertake clinical consultations and provide a high standard of service and care to patients.

Develop a family orientated clinic practice with continuity of care and appropriate follow-up and referral, on both outpatient and inpatient level.

Assist with the implementation of preventative care strategies, including structuring and performing medical screening services.

Manage the delivery of competent and professional health services according to the International SOS standards.

Assist with ensuring appropriate patient triage and flow within the clinic.

Provide leadership for medical related issues to the onsite medical staff.

Provide training and education to onsite medical staff on relevant topics.

Coordinate with the Assistance Centre teams on the procedures required and preparation of patients to facilitate evacuation

Quality Assurance and Administration

Liaise with the Medical Services (MS) operations and management to optimize quality assurance and ensure that appropriate medical outcomes are consistently attained with respect to the provision of clinical services.

Take responsibility for quality of medical service delivery as per International SOS guidelines and standards.

Ensure that patient’s medical files and documentation are maintained to highest standards and in accordance with International SOS guidelines.

Client and Community Relationship Management

Demonstrate an understanding of the clients’ contractual agreements and work with the Sales and Marketing department to ensure that relationships with International SOS clients are at all times positive and consistent with the contractual obligations.

Directly responsible to respond to any client related complaints which arise using the International SOS procedure guidelines in conjunction with the Country and/or Regional Medical Director.

Work with members of the senior management team on initiatives to enhance the medical service profile and activity.

Participate actively in appropriate social and professional activities to promote International SOS services.

Presentation of important health topics to interested community groups

Facilitate effective positive teamwork and clear channels of communication both internally and externally.

Additional Responsibilities

Educate non-medical staff in medical matters where relevant.

Act as a medical escort when required for appropriate medical evacuations.

Occasionally assist with locums at other sites globally.

To work within and promote all International SOS’s policies, procedures and corporate values.

Undertaking project work or reasonable duties as requested by management.

Requirements -

Medical Doctor with 5 years plus post-graduation experience gained within Accident & Emergency and General Practice.

Full registration to practice medicine in country of origin

Sound knowledge of the principles of general practice management and administration.

Medical Degree essential with current medical licence.

Current ACLS certification.

Current Early Management of Severe Trauma or Advanced Trauma Life Support (desirable)

Other medical certification as required on each site e.g. PALS, HUET, BOSIET.
