Job Description - Nephrologist

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and formulate individualized treatment plans for patients with kidney diseases.
  • Diagnose and manage Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) across all stages, including risk stratification and intervention planning.
  • Provide timely and effective management of Acute Kidney Injury (AKI), including identifying etiology and initiating appropriate interventions.
  • Supervise and coordinate hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis treatments, including patient selection, protocol adherence, and complication management.
  • Perform and interpret renal biopsies, ensuring accurate diagnosis and integration into treatment strategies.
  • Manage complex electrolyte imbalances and acid -base disorders with precision and clinical judgment.
  • Collaborate with transplant teams to evaluate candidates, manage pre -transplant care, and provide post -transplant follow -up.
  • Interpret renal imaging studies (ultrasound, CT, MRI) and correlate findings with clinical presentation.
  • Monitor and manage hypertension in renal patients, optimizing blood pressure control to slow disease progression.
  • Maintain accurate and up -to -date medical records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and follow -up documentation.
  • Participate in clinical rounds, case discussions, and multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure holistic patient care.
  • Stay current with evolving guidelines and evidence -based practices in nephrology through continuous professional development.

Requirements:
  • MBBS degree with MD in Internal Medicine or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
  • Completion of a recognized postgraduate training program in Nephrology (Diplomate of National Board – DNBE or equivalent).
  • Strong foundational knowledge in Chronic Kidney Disease, Acute Kidney Injury, Glomerular Diseases, and Renal Transplant Care.
  • Hands -on experience or training in hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis management.
  • Proficiency in performing and interpreting renal biopsies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage electrolyte disturbances, acid -base disorders, and hypertension in renal patients.
  • Familiarity with renal imaging modalities and their clinical application.
  • Excellent clinical reasoning, diagnostic acumen, and patient communication skills.
  • Commitment to evidence -based practice and continuous learning.
  • Valid registration with the Medical Council of India (or equivalent) and eligibility for license to practice.
  • Willingness to work in a fast -paced clinical environment with rotating shifts and on -call responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in a tertiary care hospital or nephrology unit.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Research or publication experience in nephrology (a plus).
