Network Specialist (Ubuntu and MySQL)

1. Ubuntu/Linux Server Administration

• Install, configure, administer, and maintain Ubuntu/Linux servers in physical and virtual environments.


• Perform regular system updates, security patching, and kernel upgrades.


• Monitor server health, performance, capacity, and availability, and proactively resolve issues.


• Manage storage, filesystems, LVM, and related system resources.


• Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery mechanisms.


• Apply server hardening practices to protect systems against unauthorized access and common security vulnerabilities.

2. MySQL Database Administration

• Install, configure, administer, and optimize MySQL Server environments.


• Configure and maintain database replication and high-availability setups, as applicable.


• Monitor database performance and optimize queries, indexes, memory, and other database parameters.


• Perform database backup, restoration, migration, and recovery activities.


• Manage database users, privileges, access controls, and security policies.


• Diagnose and resolve database errors, performance issues, slow queries, and data integrity concerns.

3. Monitoring & Automation

• Implement and maintain server and database monitoring solutions such as Nagios or similar tools.


• Automate routine administration and operational tasks using Bash/Shell scripting, Ansible, or similar tools.


• Configure logging, alerting, and notification mechanisms for timely incident identification and response.

4. Security & Compliance

• Ensure systems and databases comply with organizational security standards, internal policies, and applicable data protection requirements.


• Perform periodic vulnerability assessments, security reviews, log monitoring, and access audits.


• Support implementation of security patches and corrective actions based on audit or vulnerability findings.

5. Collaboration & Documentation

• Collaborate with DevOps, Development, Infrastructure, and Information Security teams for deployment, troubleshooting, and system improvements.


• Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation, including configurations, procedures, backup processes, and operational guidelines.


• Provide support during critical incidents, planned maintenance activities, and production outages, as required.

6. AI Infrastructure & Emerging Technologies

• Demonstrate willingness and eagerness to learn and work with AI platforms and AI-enabled infrastructure.


• Support the deployment, administration, monitoring, and maintenance of servers used for AI applications and workloads.


• Keep abreast of emerging technologies and contribute to the adoption of automation and AI-based tools for improving infrastructure operations.

Requisite Skills / Technology

 1.       Ubuntu/Linux: Hands-on experience with Ubuntu Server 20.04/22.04 LTS or above.

2.       MySQL: Administration of MySQL 5.7/8.0, including backup, restore, and basic performance management.

3.       Networking & Security: IP configuration, DNS, DHCP, routing, SSH security, and TLS/SSL certificate management.

4.       Automation: Strong Bash scripting skills; experience with Ansible preferred. Knowledge of Puppet/Chef is an advantage.

5.       Version Control & Scheduling: Working knowledge of Git, cron jobs, and systemd timers.

6.       Backup & Disaster Recovery: Experience with rsync, rclone, mysqldump, and database recovery practices.

Eligibility Qualification/s

(a) Master’s Degree in Computer Application / Computer Science/ Information Technology/ E & TC or equivalent from any recognized University

OR

(b) Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree (BE / BTech / ME / MTech) with specialization in Computer Engineering / Computer Technology / Information Technology/ E & TC or equivalent from any recognized University

Certified RHCE

Certified MySQL DBA

 Selection Process

Stage I: Technical Hands-on Assessment

Candidates will undergo a Technical Hands-on Assessment to evaluate their practical proficiency in Ubuntu Server and MySQL Administration. Candidates must secure a minimum of 50% mark in this assessment to qualify for the next stage of the selection process.

Stage II – Personal Interview:

Only candidates who secure at least 50% marks in the Technical Hands-on Assessment will be eligible to appear for the Personal Interview before a Selection Panel. Each member of the Selection Panel shall independently assess and evaluate the candidate’s performance during the interview. Candidates must secure a minimum of 50% marks in the Personal Interview to qualify for final selection.

Final Selection

The final selection of candidates shall be based on the aggregate marks obtained in the Technical Hands-on Assessment and the Personal Interview, subject to the candidate securing the prescribed minimum qualifying marks in each stage.

Relevant Experience

A minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience after the completion of the qualifying degree/master’s program as specified above.
