About the Role:

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Nursing Superintendent to oversee and lead the nursing services in a reputed multi-specialty hospital. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of clinical and administrative experience in nursing, with strong leadership and organizational skills. This role requires the ability to manage and supervise a large team of nursing staff while ensuring the highest standards of patient care, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

As the Nursing Superintendent, you will be responsible for the overall management of the nursing department, including workforce planning, quality assurance, policy implementation, and interdepartmental coordination. You will also be expected to lead the continuous education and professional development of the nursing team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Supervision:
    Oversee day-to-day operations of the nursing department. Manage staffing, rostering, delegation, and supervision of nurses across all departments and shifts.
  • Quality & Compliance:
    Ensure nursing care delivery aligns with hospital standards, statutory guidelines, accreditation protocols, and infection control practices.
  • Training & Development:
    Organize regular training sessions, workshops, and CME programs for the nursing staff to enhance their skills, knowledge, and clinical competencies.
  • Patient-Centered Care:
    Foster a patient-first approach by ensuring nursing care is compassionate, timely, and based on evidence-based practices.
  • Policy Implementation:
    Draft, update, and implement nursing policies, SOPs, and guidelines in line with regulatory standards (e.g., NABH, JCI).
  • Audit & Monitoring:
    Conduct routine audits and inspections of wards, ICUs, and OT areas to ensure adherence to quality standards and protocols.
  • Conflict Resolution & Counseling:
    Address grievances or concerns raised by staff or patients related to nursing care. Support staff well-being through counseling and motivation.
  • Collaboration:
    Work closely with hospital administration, medical, paramedical, and support teams to ensure seamless coordination and patient satisfaction.
  • Inventory & Equipment Management:
    Oversee procurement and maintenance of nursing-related equipment, supplies, and linen. Ensure proper usage and minimal wastage.
  • Emergency Response:
    Guide the nursing team during critical situations, emergencies, and disaster management drills, ensuring preparedness at all times.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: B.Sc Nursing / M.Sc Nursing from a recognized institution.
  • Registration: Must be registered with the State Nursing Council.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of total nursing experience, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
  • Key Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team management abilities
    • In-depth knowledge of hospital operations and clinical protocols
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Organizational and time management proficiency
    • Familiarity with healthcare accreditation and quality standards
