Fabrication: Create, sculpt, and mold custom devices using plaster casts, measurements, and 3D digital data.
Material Management: Work with a variety of materials including plastics, metals, leather, carbon fiber, and composite fabrics.
Repair & Modification: Adjust, repair, or replace broken components like straps, padding, rivets, or metal uprights on existing devices.
Quality Control: Ensure all finished orthoses meet patient safety standards, structural durability, and comfort requirements.
Lab Maintenance: Operate and maintain workshop equipment (e.g., band saws, rotary tools, heating elements) while keeping a clean and safe environment
Requirements
Manual Dexterity & Mechanical Ability: High precision with hand tools and machinery.
Technical Knowledge: Understanding of human anatomy, material properties, and CAD/CAM software.
Education & Training: Typically requires a high school diploma followed by on -the -job training, a technical certificate, or a specialized diploma in prosthetics and orthotics.
