OT Technician

We are seeking a dedicated, skilled, and detail-oriented Operation Theatre (OT) Technician to join a leading healthcare facility in Trichy. The candidate will be responsible for preparing the operation theatre, assisting surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgical procedures, maintaining medical equipment, and upholding strict sterile environment standards to ensure optimal patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

1. Pre-Operative Preparation:
   

   • Prepare and sterilize the operation theatre, surgical instruments, and equipment prior to surgeries.
     

   • Verify and set up surgical equipment (e.g., anesthesia machines, monitors, suction units, cautery machines, surgical lights).
     

   • Ensure adequate stock of surgical supplies, medications, drapes, and sterilized instruments in the OT.
     

2. Intra-Operative Support:
   

   • Assist surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff during surgical procedures.
     

   • Position patients correctly and comfortably on the operating table according to surgical specifications.
     

   • Pass sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment to surgeons during operations.
     

   • Monitor patient vital signs in coordination with the anesthesia team.
     

3. Post-Operative Duties:
   

   • Assist in transferring patients safely from the OT to the Recovery Room / ICU.
     

   • Clean, disinfect, and sterilize the OT room and equipment post-surgery according to infection control protocols.
     

   • Collect and properly label surgical specimens for laboratory testing.
     

4. Maintenance & Safety:
   

   • Perform routine maintenance and calibration checks on OT equipment; report technical faults or repair needs immediately.
     

   • Ensure strict adherence to infection control, hygiene, and biomedical waste disposal protocols.
     

   • Maintain accurate logs and documentation for surgical procedures, equipment maintenance, and sterilization cycles.
     

Required Qualifications & Education

• Education:
  

  • B.Sc. in Operation Theatre & Anesthesia Technology OR
    

  • Diploma in Operation Theatre Technology (DOTT) / Allied Health Sciences.
    

• Experience:
  

  • 0 – 3 years of experience in a hospital setting (Freshers with relevant clinical internship/training are eligible).
