Performance Governance

Job Description - Performance Governance

  1. Job Purpose

  1. Own the post-implementation governance of operational transformation within Air India’s Mission Management - validating that SOPs, processes, and frameworks designed by the Ops Transformation function are actually being executed correctly on the ground.

  2. Operate as a direct report to the Ops Transformation Lead, taking workstream direction and priorities from the Ops Transformation Lead and feeding structured execution evidence back into the transformation cycle.

  3. Bridge the gap between transformation design and operational reality - reviewing live operations, identifying execution gaps, and feeding structured observations back into the improvement loop.

  4. Work closely with tactical teams - OCC controllers, dispatchers, ground coordinators and other departments - to assess day-to-day operational compliance against defined SOPs and performance standards.

  5. Ensure Air India’s Mission Management operates as designed - and where it does not, raise structured findings with evidence, root cause, and recommended corrective action to the Ops Transformation Lead.

  1. Key Accountabilities

Execution Review & Operational Discipline

  1. Conduct structured reviews of live Mission Management and all operational departments to assess whether SOPs, processes, and standards are being applied as designed, identifying gaps between intent and execution.

  2. Review shift-level operational decisions within OCC, escalation patterns, and coordination behaviours to identify where process discipline is breaking down and why.

  3. Assess the practical usability of SOPs on the ground - flagging where documentation is unclear, inaccessible, or misaligned with operating conditions, and feeding back to the SOP governance owner.

  4. Maintain a structured execution gap tracker - logging findings, severity, affected processes, and recommended actions - updated on a defined review cycle.

Transformation Cycle Inputs

  1. Translate execution observations into structured improvement inputs for the Ops Transformation team - ensuring that what is observed on the ground informs what gets fixed in the next transformation cycle.

  1. Participate in Delay Occurrence Committee (DOC), Ops Excellence Committee (OEC), Customer Experience Committee (CXC) and Punctuality Governance Cell (PGC) forums with execution-layer evidence, supporting accountability discussions with ground-truth observations.

  1. Work with policies and procedures teams across functions and departments to validate that revised SOPs effectively address the identified execution gaps before re-deployment.

Tactical Team Engagement

  1. Build trusted relationships with tactical teams - OCC controllers, senior dispatchers, shift supervisors - to enable candid observation and feedback on operational execution quality.

  2. Facilitate structured operational debrief sessions with tactical teams to capture execution experience, recurring pain points, and process friction areas.

  3. Support induction and awareness sessions when new SOPs or procedures are deployed - ensuring tactical teams understand what has changed and why.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

  1. Monitor execution-level performance indicators - Turnaround compliance, disruption response times, escalation discipline - to identify execution-layer performance trends.

  2. Prepare regular execution review reports for the OT Lead, structured around findings, root causes, and priority corrective actions.

  3. This role reports to and takes direction from the OT Lead. Any other additional responsibility could be assigned to the role holder from time to time as a standalone project or regular work, agreed between the incumbent, the OT Lead, and HR.
