Job Description - Performance Test Architect

Job Brief:

Candidature Requirements:
 



  • The primary focus of the role involves designing and implementing performance testing strategies and frameworks to ensure the scalability, reliability, and responsiveness of software applications under various workloads.  



  • Performance Test Architects play a critical role in evaluating and optimizing application performance, identifying bottlenecks, and ensuring that applications meet performance requirements.
     



  • Performance Test Architects are instrumental in ensuring that software applications can handle the expected user loads, perform optimally, and meet performance requirements.  



  • They contribute significantly to the overall quality and reliability of the applications by identifying and resolving performance-related issues early in the software development lifecycle.
     



  • The role works closely with Test Managers, Test leads, Dev Leads, Developers, Business and Systems analysts, test analysts & engineers and with business stakeholders.
     


 


Areas of Responsibility: 



  • Develop and Implement Performance Testing Strategy
     



  • Create performance testing roadmaps and plans for different projects and applications.
     



  • Design and develop efficient performance testing frameworks that can simulate realistic user loads and measure application performance effectively.
     



  • Identify and implement suitable performance testing tools and technologies to enhance testing efficiency.
     



  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather performance testing requirements and design test scenarios that reflect real-world user behaviour.
     



  • Develop performance test scripts using performance testing tools and scripting languages.
     



  • Analyse production usage patterns and create workload models that accurately represent user behaviour and traffic patterns.
     



  • Collaborate with IT and DevOps teams to set up and configure test environments that closely resemble production environments.
     



  • Execute performance tests and monitor application performance during testing.
     



  • Analyse performance test results to identify performance bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
     



  • Collaborate with development teams to suggest performance optimisations and design changes based on performance test findings.
     



  • Provide recommendations for improving application performance and scalability.
     



  • Evaluate application scalability and provide capacity planning recommendations to ensure the application can handle increasing user loads.
     



  • Integrate performance tests into the continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline for regular performance validation.
     



  • Implement performance monitoring tools and analyse performance metrics to proactively identify and address performance issues.
     



  • Create comprehensive performance test reports and document performance testing processes, methodologies, and findings.
     

  • Provide guidance and training to team members on performance testing best practices, tools, and techniques.
     


Must-Have Requirements: 



  • Proven experience 10+ years as a Performance Test Architect or a similar role in performance testing and engineering.
     



  • Strong proficiency in performance testing tools such as Gatling (must), JMeter, or LoadRunner , Grafana Cloud K6 and hands-on experience with scripting languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python).
     



  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing performance testing frameworks.
     



  • Experience with workload modelling and performance test planning.
     



  • Familiarity with performance monitoring and profiling tools.
     



  • Knowledge of CI/CD practices and integrating performance testing into the CI/CD pipeline.
     



  • Solid understanding of application performance tuning and optimisation techniques.
     



  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
     


 


Nice to Have Requirements: 



  • Proven ability to mentor and guide team members in performance testing best practices.
