Job Description - Planner / Scheduler Mechanical - Marine


Afcons Infrastructure Limited is an Indian multinational construction and engineering company based in Mumbai. The company provides infrastructure services and is involved in the construction of infrastructure projects such as viaducts, flyovers, metros, bridges, pipelines, roads, ports, barrages, oil and gas projects etc


Roles and Responsibilities 01

Undertaking project planning activities for BU Marine & Industrial



  • Preparation of schedule (Primavera / MS project), detailed work plan (activities) based on the project objectives and contractual specifications.

  • Developing a schedule along with critical path for commissioning different phases along with cost loading in Primavera P6 18.8.

  • Preparation of L1 Schedule in Primavera, equipment requirement & equipment deployment schedule, time cycle, method statement and construction sequence for major activities of Marine Jetties, Berths, Breakwater, LNG Tanks, Harbors, Quay Wall, Material Handling, Industrial Structures and Green Energy Projects.

  • Time cycles, preparing and updating time location diagram for better understanding.

  • Preparing and submitting as-built drawings

  • Understanding the budget related activities such as work plan, direct cost, indirect cost, MIS (Management Information System) and cash flow summary.

  • Resource planning - compilation of resource requirement (manpower, material and equipment)

  • Analyzing rates obtained for resources.


Roles and Responsibilities 02

Ongoing evaluation of project activities



  • Preparation of project progress Report in terms of adherence to timelines, turnover, profitability, and cash flow

  • Preparation of equipment performance report against norms

  • Preparation of material consumption report including allocation and wastage and assisting Quantity Survey (QS)

  • Identification of avenues for cost reduction.

  • Coordinating with construction department for daily activities and directing the construction activities towards milestone & subsystem completion with respect to commissioning.

  • Comparison of actual progress vs budgeted progress with the help of S-curve.

  • Time to time modifications of project plan, schedule, and budget in coordination with Planning In-Charge and Project Manager

  • Preparing delay analysis for different packages of overall project

  • Preparation of reconciliation related to structural steel, rebar, cement, and other consumables.

  • Maintaining the contractual documents (such as letter correspondences both incoming & outgoing).

  • Preparing & updating tender documents (appendix related to program)

  • Maintaining requisite data for project team performance measurement (and provide input as required)


Roles and Responsibilities 03

Periodic reporting of project progress and documentation



  • Submission of Daily Progress Report (DPR) to Head Office after approval from Planning In-charge & Project Head

  • Submission of correspondences for technical reports as per the contractual requirement.

  • Recording and reporting actual progress of work, manpower & equipment versus the planned figures.

  • Recording the monthly site progress photos.

  • Recording actual data for productivity, resources & equipment for future references

  • Reporting to Planning In-Charge & Project Manager about site progress and critical issue with viable solutions.

  • Submission of Daily Progress Report (DPR), Monthly Progress Report (MPR), Monthly flash report, WIP (work in progress) report, Executive reports (Feedback to execution) to Head Office after approval from Planning In-charge & Project Manager.

  • Preparation of strip chart report to represent the status of all structure and activity for internal management as well as for client.

  • Providing supporting data for MIS.

Key Objective of the Job Position

To ensure achievement of project objectives on time, within budget and within contractual conditions by developing an overall project plan and schedule and monitoring against the same, identifying deviations and suggesting corrective measures.


Education Qualifications

Educational Essential:Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering 

Educational Desirable: Master’s Degree in Civil engineering, PGDM- NICMAR/ PMP Certification


Computer Software Proficiency

AutoCAD, MSP, MS Excel, MS Word, Power Point

Knowledge of Primavera / MS Project / BIM software is mandatory


Experience Range

Minimum 5 to 10 Years in planning activities for projects involving the construction of Marine Jetties, Berths, Breakwater, LNG Tanks, Harbors, Quay Wall, Material Handling, Industrial Structures and Green Energy Projects.


Work Environment

Mostly office Indoor job and occasional visits to sites. Required to work on computers for long hours and pay great attention to detail. Should be able to handle work pressure.
