Job Title:                                  Principal Analyst, General Ledger Accounting & Financial Reporting

Role Band:                                7

PURPOSE OF ROLE

Please summarise the overall purpose of the role.

  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of monthly financials including Income Statement and Balance Sheet for the zone/Country and analysis of Cash flow and variances.
  • Ensure timely closure of General Ledger books and maintaining accuracy/quality of all related activities like ERP Accounting, JE, Account Reconciliation etc. through required co-ordination with various GCC teams as well as Country and Zone Controllers.
  • Ensure delivery of operational performance within GCC / Zones against agreed SLA’s & KPI’s and complete adherence to SOX/MICS and audit compliances
  • Partner with teams to identify improvements in efficiency, productivity & utilization across the zones and driving the improvements where required
  • Ensure monthly controls are tested and drive for closure by liaising within GCC / Country / Zone

KEY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Reporting responsibility:

This role has full responsibility on FCCS & Cognos reporting tasks making sure they are done in compliance with the reporting requirements, making sure that all stakeholders reports their assigned task accurately in time. He/she has to be in contact with Country Controller, Finance Manager and Control Director to submit/ or help to submit the required templates to Financials.

Monthly and quarterly tasks:

•              Income statement submission - reopening to correct for errors is possible upon request

•              Balance sheet submission - reopening to correct for errors is possible upon request

•              Income statement submission – zone review final

•              Cash flow - flow schedules

•              Variance analysis Income statement, Balance sheet and Cash flow

•              Tax reconciliation

•              Supplementary schedules for ageing of loans and receivables and payables

•              KPI schedule for Net CAPEX (by plant)

•              PROV roll-forward template

•              Supplementary schedules for tax reconciliation

•              Variance analysis tax supplementary schedules

•              Other supplementary schedules – part 1

•              Brand profitability

•              Other supplementary schedules – part 2

•              Variance analysis other supplementary schedules

•              Inventory on financial instruments

•              Quarterly reports

•              Management Questioner / Survey 

  • Manual journal review & postings as per Global policy
  • Perform & review monthly balance sheet reconciliation.  Manage open items and reporting zone
  • Manage Month end closure for GL & coordinate with other sub modules closure

Project accountability:

To make sure that assigned ongoing (global & country) projects (e.g. GCOA, FCCS, Cognos flow) achieve their goals. Active participation on project meetings, contribution to define and execute the action plans, cooperation with Project Lead, Team Lead, Country Controller and other teams to achieve project goals. Support the project with professional expertise.

MICS Control Testing:

To review / test assign internal controls and drive for successful closure (including obtaining evidence / review of evidence / discussing with country finance)

  • Main Characteristics: Challenges:
    • Be a subject matter expert to the business team (Financial Reporting processes /ATR)
    • Maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders & address their concerns during daily, weekly, monthly reporting cycle
    • Be closely connected with Business Operations
  • Evaluation Criteria (Targets):
    • Activities delivered in time, Accurately and without business disruption
    • Deliverables signed off by stakeholders
    • Number of value adds: Improvements, Standardisation, Automation (recommendations made)
  • Key Dimensions:
    • This role has the key accountability to have accurate figures in FCCS & Cognos which is the primary reference for other departments/managers to achieve their target (main KPIs of targets can be based on FCCS & Cognos), like cash flow / core working capital. FCCS & Cognos figures are primary inputs for senior management to make their decision therefore, it is very important to accurately reporting FCCS & Cognos figures.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS

Please list the following requirements

  • Level of educational attainment required:
    • Bachelor's degree required (emphasis in Accounting or Finance field)/MBA Finance &
    • Chartered or Cost Accountant (ICAI, ACCA, CPA, ICMAI India or CIMA)
  • Previous work experience required
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience post qualification with large scale manufacturing industry with reporting background.
    • Skilled in month end reporting at group level and problem solving
    • Hands on experience on IFRS, IND AS, IGAAP, Africa GAAP or UK GAAP.
    • Must be able to handle multiple legal entities, countries and zone simultaneously             
    • Strong communication, follow-up, and organizational skills
    • Strong collaboration & teamwork
  • Language skills required
    • English (Fluent)
  • IT skills required
    • Microsoft Office (mandatory)
    • S4Hana or Oracle (mandatory)
    • Hands on experience HFM or FCCS or Cognos or any other large scale reporting pack (mandatory)
    • Advanced Excel (Pivots, calculated fields, Conditional formatting, charts, dropdown lists etc.)
    • VBA, Excel MACRO
