### Principal Architect \u2013 Middleware \u0026 Cloud Technologies Key Responsibilities\n\n * Own, design, and build middleware and API platforms with strong hands\u2011on coding.\n * Develop Python\u2011based microservices (FastAPI) and modern APIs using REST, gRPC (Protobuf), and GraphQL.\n * Lead enterprise modernization from legacy, stored\u2011procedure\u2011centric systems to cloud\u2011native, API\u2011driven architectures.\n * Drive GenAI\u2011assisted development for code generation, refactoring, SQL optimization, and productivity.\n * Partner with cloud/infrastructure teams on Kubernetes / OpenShift, CI/CD, scalability, observability, and performance.\n * Lead resolution of complex production issues across performance, data, and integration layers.\n * Mentor budding engineers through hands\u2011on coding, pairing, design sessions, and code reviews.\n * Act as a technical liaison to align architecture with stakeholder needs and delivery outcomes.\n\n\n\n### Strong Hands\u2011On Coding Requirements (Mandatory)\n\n * Writes production-grade code regularly (this is not a review-only architect role).\n * Personally implements core services, critical features, and PoCs.\n * Hands-on in debugging, performance tuning, and incident/RCA fixes.\n * Writes/optimizes complex SQL (CTEs, dynamic queries) on modern databases.\n * Contributes to CI/CD, deployment readiness, and operational improvements.\n * Practices pair programming and deep code walkthroughs, especially with junior engineers.\n * Uses AI developer tools hands-on in day-to-day engineering work.\n\n\n\n### \n\n### Required Qualifications\n\n * 15+ years of experience in software engineering with significant depth in architecture and distributed systems.\n * Proven team management experience (led teams or multiple squads; ownership of delivery and technical outcomes).\n * Expert-level hands-on experience in Python microservices (FastAPI).\n * Strong API expertise: REST, gRPC, GraphQL.\n * Deep experience in SQL performance tuning (Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle).\n * Hands-on experience with GenAI development tools (Copilot, Claude, Codex, Databricks AI).\n * Experience with cloud platforms and Kubernetes-based environments.\n * Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.\n\n\n\n### \n\n### Leadership \u0026 Mindset (What We Look For)\n\n * Highly motivated self-starter with strong ownership and bias for action.\n * Leads by example, builds trust with engineers, and drives execution.\n * Comfortable operating in ambiguity and making pragmatic decisions.\n\n\n\nQualification:\n\n * 15+ years experience\n * Must have managed teams\n\n\n\n## Qualifications\n\n### Education:\n\nBachelor\u0027s Degree\n\n### Skills\n\n### Certifications:\n\n### Languages:\n\n### Years of Experience:\n\n7 - 10 Years\n\n### Work Experience:\n\n## Additional Information\n\n### \n\n### Shift:\n\nDay (India)\n\n### \n\n### Travel:\n\nYes, 10% of the Time\n\n### \n\n### Relocation Eligible:\n\nYes\n\n### Referral Payment Plan:\n\nEmployee Referral (Standard)\n\nApplied Materials is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
