Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal BIM Technician - Highways to join our US-GCC T&I Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining Civils/Highways engineering drawings using Autodesk and Bentley software. Successful candidate will collaborate closely with our engineering and CAD teams to ensure that all designs and drawings meet industry standards and project requirements.



Responsibilities

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation of engineering drawings using WSP CAD standards and templates.
  • Develop templates and libraries for CAD/BIM work.
  • Align work with team workflows and maintain document control for all work.
  • Proactively raise queries, identify necessary inputs from others, and follow up.
  • Create detailed and accurate civil highways engineering drawings using Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, and Civil 3D.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to CAD/BIM technicians.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in CAD technology.
  • You can expect to be actively managing production delivery for number of US projects at any given time; a major element of the role will be to liaise with WSP’s US based CAD lead /design teams to ensure CAD delivery within agreed delivery schedule, quality and budget constraints.
  • You will also be required to work with other locally based team & design leads to ensure CAD resources are fully utilised, identified and addressed effectively and any surplus or shortfall in available staff/workload are identified timely.
  • In leading the CAD process, you will be expected to set clear goals for the team members, monitoring their progress closely and encouraging them to deliver appropriate and cost-effective solutions to the agreed programme.

Requirements:

  • Over 15 years of experience as a Principal/Senior BIM Technician, specializing in Civils/ Highways engineering, modelling and drafting of Civil Highways drawings.
  • Proficiency in Bentley software, including Microstation and OpenRoads Designer.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk software, such as Civil 3D and Revit.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Project and Team management skills.
  • Strong understanding of highway engineering principles and practices.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Coordinate engineering services on projects to ensure that the correct inputs are received timely and the outputs are issued after a thorough review.
  • Ensure that work produced by the team adheres to specified WSP CAD standards and suggest revisions to standards as appropriate.
  • Maintain regular dialogue with the project engineer and US team.
  • Ensure that all new skills learned are documented and available for new team members. 
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, and MS office (Excel, Word, Power Point) is expected.
  • Cultural awareness, an open mind and excellent English communication skills are essential requirements for the role.
  • In conjunction with the Team Head, identify skills shortages and develop a program for CAD/BIM training.
  • Carry out audits of adherence to WSP Management and Quality processes and implement corrective measures where required 

 

Mandatory Skills: 

  • Proficient in Civil3D and Microstation, Highways drafting, Utilities, Junction, and signage drawings, Bridge, International projects experience. 

Desired Skills: 

  • Proficient in 3D modelling, OpenRoads Designer, Microstation and Civil 3D.

Skills To Be Evaluated On: 

  • Proficient in Microstation, Highways detailing, Highway engineering.  



Qualifications

Qualifications

Mandatory Qualification:

Diploma in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.

  • Qualification (If Other): B Tech. Civil.

BGV:

  • Employment with WSP India is subject to the successful completion of a background verification (“BGV”) check conducted by a third-party agency appointed by WSP India.
