Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Principal – Direct Tax Advisory to join a leading advisory firm in Mumbai. The role will focus on providing strategic tax advisory solutions to clients, with strong exposure to Direct Tax, FEMA regulations and M&A transactions.

Key Responsibilities

• 
  

  Lead and manage Direct Tax Advisory engagements for clients across various sectors.

  
  


• 
  

  Provide advisory on complex Income Tax matters, tax planning and structuring.

  
  


• 
  

  Advise clients on FEMA and cross-border transactions, including regulatory and tax implications.

  
  


• 
  

  Support M&A transactions, including tax due diligence, transaction structuring and evaluating tax implications.

  
  


• 
  

  Handle complex tax research, interpretation of laws and preparation of advisory opinions.

  
  


• 
  

  Work closely with clients and internal teams to deliver high-quality tax solutions.

  
  


• 
  

  Review and guide the work of junior team members.

  
  


• 
  

  Participate in client meetings and contribute to developing long-term client relationships.

  
  


• 
  

  Support business development initiatives, proposals and presentations as required.

  
  


• 
  

  Keep the team and clients updated on relevant changes in tax and regulatory laws.

  
  

Ideal Candidate

• 
  

  Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA).

  
  


• 
  

  Strong experience in Direct Tax Advisory.

  
  


• 
  

  Good working knowledge of FEMA and cross-border regulations.

  
  


• 
  

  Prior exposure to M&A / transaction advisory will be an added advantage.

  
  


• 
  

  Strong analytical, research, client management and communication skills.

  
  


• 
  

  Experience in a Big 4 / leading advisory or professional services firm would be preferred.
