The position will lead and guide the P&C design team in delivering project and proposal activities across a diverse portfolio of international T&D, Renewable (Onshore & Offshore wind/ Solar), BESS substation projects, with a strong focus on UK‑based engagements and in addition to providing leadership, the role will also contribute individually to key project deliverables, applying deep technical expertise and established engineering methodologies.
As a lead, the individual will plan, allocate, and oversee daily tasks within the team, ensuring that all engineering outputs consistently meet required On‑Time Delivery (OTD) targets and comply with internal and external quality standards. The role includes reviewing designs, mentoring junior engineers, resolving technical issues, and ensuring disciplined execution of engineering activities.
This position is responsible for delivering high‑quality engineering design across multiple concurrent projects ranging from moderate‑scale assignments to major project work packages while ensuring cost‑effective execution aligned with contract specifications, safety requirements, and agreed project timelines.

To contribute to the technical development and delivery of secondary design within the Renewables power generation team:
Evaluates, selects and applies standard techniques and procedures to perform engineering assignments. Prepares project documentation within one’s scope of deliverables.
Lead the delivery of Secondary / Protection & Control engineering for EHV/HV/MV substations (up to 400kV) across transmission, distribution, generation, and asset replacement projects.
Provide technical oversight and approval for key deliverables including:
Protection philosophies and schemes (Feeder, Transformer, Busbar, Breaker Failure, Line, Generator, etc.)
Protection & Control schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel GA drawings
AC/DC system design, battery sizing, and distribution
Substation Automation Systems (SAS) including IEC 61850, SCADA, RTU, and telecom interfaces
Cause & Effect diagrams, interlocking logic, signal lists, and cable schedules
Ensure completeness and functional integrity of assigned work packages and secondary systems.
Review and validate engineering outputs to ensure compliance with:
Client specifications and standards (e.g. National Grid, DNOs, Utilities)
International standards (IEC, IEEE)
WSP internal quality and assurance processes
Resolve complex technical issues arising during design development and execution.
Ensure all inter‑disciplinary interfaces (Primary, Civil, Telecom, SCADA) are properly coordinated and documented
Secure the completeness of the assigned packages and correct function of the resulting substation system.
Confirm the engineering is developed, taken into consideration the complete information and all inter discipline checks has been conducted, the results are documented in the project specific storage area.

Focus on cost-efficient and innovative solutions
Report and keep records for all engineering changes. Cooperate with the engineering team and agree on the project specific impacts, caused by the changes.
Ensure compliance with Client engineering guidelines, standards and quality across the complete engineering process.
Creates work plans and cost estimates in own area of team responsibility.
Contribute to the risk & opportunity register, by communicating observations.
Prepare all technical documentation for the equipment specification as input to the purchase requisitions
Contribute to the Up-to-date design issue log
Safety – Understand and follow WSP HSE procedures and guidelines
Provide input for close out report and lessons learned, and follow/review lessons learned for next projects
