Job Description - Principal Program Manager

Today, we are a global team of nearly 7,000 and our main objective is to create opportunities for our team members to explore, learn, and grow \u2013 all while seeing their ideas come to life and celebrating the differences that make us who we are and the work we do possible. \n\nYour Role\n\nIn this multi-faceted role, you will be a key contributor to PTC\u2019s Product Development teams, responsible for driving both release execution, as well as strategic programs and initiatives toward achieving the organization\u2019s best-in-class goals. You will be relied on to lead highly complex projects. You will work closely with executive leaders and subject matter experts across departments and business units, and the Program Management Office team to achieve successful project results. \nTo excel in this role, you must have excellent communications skills, an overall understanding of business processes, acumen to use advanced program management skills and the ability to think strategically and tactically. You will be expected to drive best practices, methodologies, tools, and improvements. You will be expected to work in a dynamic, collaborative, cross-functional team environment with a global team. You should be detail-oriented and enjoy working with teams to implement projects and initiatives. You should be passionate about process improvement. \n\n\nYour Impact\n\nPMO shapes the processes and augments R\u0026D in their deliveries across segments and drives high impact programs. You will directly participate in the planning, development and launch of market-leading strategic products across the digital thread portfolio. You will also support the definition and successful execution of strategic R\u0026D programs, on time and to the satisfaction of the stakeholders.\n\nYour Team\n\nYou will be part of Central R\u0026D Program Management Office, which works with all product development functions in locations across the world to deliver products. Since the team works across different products, the experience sharing helps continual learning and improvement, aligning with common practices and reaching forward to advance and improve with every product cycle.\n\nYour Day-to-Day \n\n\n * Work with PM, Engineering \u0026 QA teams on delivering projects and releases to meet R\u0026D strategic goals\n * Plan, schedule, and control the build, test, and deployment of releases\n * Enable and drive efficient release process / governance with no supervision\n * Proactively identify, communicate, and manage risks \n * Identify and manage dependencies, coordinate delivery across scrum teams\n * Measure release cadence and effectiveness using common metrics; own release dashboards \n * Drive process adoption, analyze current processes, identify gaps, and improve processes.\n * Introduce new processes as per business priorities with minimal to no guidance from the immediate manager\n * Coordinate release and backlog planning and prioritization between PM and R\u0026D teams \n * Plan and lead periodic release status review meetings with senior management\n * Lead all change management activities and ensure timely decisions on change requests\n * Project manage functional working teams to implement actionable plans with strategic, technical, and tactical milestones\n * Build best practices and lead analysis for continued improvements through RCAs and retrospectives.\n * Drive strategic programs and engage the senior management and responsible stakeholders well while continuously grabbing opportunities to push the program forward.\n * Organize and lead cross-functional teams to ensure program execution from ideation and planning to successful implementation \n * Drive execution of assigned strategic initiatives through all required phases towards successful delivery \n * Define and use tools and business systems required to support existing process and best practices\n * Support R\u0026D decision making through analytical reports and appropriate metrics; design and own R\u0026D dashboards; establish status reporting for the cross-functional teams \n * Collaborate with other Program and Release managers to define and improve organizational standards for programs, releases, processes and best practices\n\n\n\nMust-Have Skills\n\n * Bachelor\u2019s degree; Masters and/or PMP preferred\n * 7-12 years of experience in product development organizations, with minimum of 5 years in a program or project management role. \n * Good understanding and working knowledge of Agile Scrum software product development methodology, good knowledge of Scrum Master responsibilities; SAFe knowledge a plus.\n * Comfort in managing multiple projects with multiple business partners in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment\n * Self-starter who can earn trust and can influence and motivate without authority\n * Ability to work independently, as well as mentor and support more junior colleagues as needed \n * Proactive in identifying and solving problems, looks beyond the obvious and can find the root of the problem\n * Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills\n * Is effective in different presentation settings especially with large groups\n * Proven ability to \u2018Drive vs Coordinate\u2019 to accomplish desired outcomes \n * Strong business acumen and high comfort level dealing with ambiguity\n * Ability to build and cultivate strong cross-functional relationships\n * Excellent facilitator, able to drive collaboration across the teams\n * High level of organization and attention to detail \n * Data savvy; Able to interpret data and use the knowledge for introducing optimization at different levels \n * Fluent with MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project management tools (Jira/Confluence, Qlik, Smartsheet, MS Project)\n * Experience driving positive change via process improvement\n * Keen interest in learning new methodologies and willingness to be coached and mentored for senior level engagements\n\n\n\nLife at PTC is about more than working with today\u2019s most cutting-edge technologies to transform the physical world.
