Role Description 

Amtech is seeking a Principal Software Engineer / Architect to serve as the technical authority for our Label Traxx ERP platform and its ecosystem of integrations. This role owns the architecture and long-term technical direction of Label Traxx and the AWS-hosted systems that connect to it — including Cloud API, Batched, Siteline, Data Warehouse, and Supplier integrations — ensuring the platform scales reliably as Amtech’s customer base and integration footprint grow. 
This is a hands-on architecture role: you will define and evolve the AWS architecture, PostgreSQL data layers, and React-based frontends underpinning Label Traxx’s integration ecosystem, resolve highly complex cross-cutting technical challenges spanning multiple systems, and drive the multi-year modernization strategy that extends Label Traxx’s legacy 4D-based application through modern, AWS-native services. Deep, hands-on AWS expertise is required, since AWS underpins every integration in this ecosystem.
You will partner with Amtech’s Architecture Review Board and engineering leadership to set organization-wide standards for secure engineering, scalable architecture, CI/CD, automation, and AI-assisted development — and you will coach senior engineers across the Label Traxx and integrations teams to build lasting technical capability.

Key Responsibilities 

• Serve as the recognized technical authority for the Label Traxx ERP platform and its integration ecosystem, shaping engineering standards, architecture, and long-term technical direction. 


• Own the AWS architecture underpinning all Label Traxx integrations — Cloud API, Batched, Siteline, Data Warehouse, and Supplier integrations — ensuring each is scalable, secure, and operationally mature on a shared cloud foundation. 


• Drive the strategic roadmap for modernizing the legacy 4D-based Label Traxx platform, extending capability through AWS-native services across all integration points, and resolving highly complex cross-cutting technical challenges through expert judgment. 


• Define and evolve PostgreSQL data architecture and modeling standards shared across Label Traxx’s integrations, ensuring data integrity, performance, and consistency at scale. 


• Guide architecture and technical direction for React-based frontends used by Label Traxx and its integration partners, ensuring consistency with backend and API design. 


• Partner with the Architecture Review Board to define and evolve organization-wide standards for secure engineering, scalability, CI/CD, observability, and AI-assisted development practices.


• Improve engineering productivity, reliability, and delivery outcomes across the Label Traxx platform and its integration teams. 


• Coach senior and staff-level engineers across Label Traxx and integration teams, influencing technical decisions and building organizational capability. 


• Communicate technical direction, architecture decisions, and trade-offs to executive and cross-functional stakeholders (Product, Engineering, QA, Security, Operations).


• Evaluate AWS infrastructure and integration investments (compute, storage, networking, observability) needed to support Label Traxx’s growth, reliability, and cost efficiency. 


• Guide incident response and root-cause analysis for the most complex production issues spanning Label Traxx and its integrations. 

Skills & Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s a plus). 


• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including significant time in technical leadership, architecture, or principal engineering roles. 


• Deep, hands-on AWS expertise across multiple production services (e.g., ECS/Fargate, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, Secrets Manager, CloudFormation/SAM) — able to define cloud architecture standards applied consistently across several integrations, not a single service.


• Proven experience architecting complex, integration-heavy enterprise platforms — designing and scaling multiple system-to-system integrations (APIs, batch processes, data warehousing, or supplier/EDI-style integrations). 


• Strong PostgreSQL expertise, including data modeling, performance tuning, and schema design for high-transaction enterprise systems. 


• Experience with React and modern frontend architecture; able to guide frontend/backend integration decisions. 


• Strong background in C#/.NET (ASP.NET Core) and enterprise API design; proven experience modernizing legacy or monolithic systems into service-oriented or cloud-native architectures.


• Proven track record defining engineering standards, secure engineering practices, and CI/CD strategy across multiple teams. 


• Demonstrated ability to mentor senior engineers and influence technical direction beyond a single team. 


• Excellent communication skills; able to align technical and executive stakeholders on architecture, trade-offs, and risk. 


• Experience guiding organization-wide adoption of AI-assisted development tools and practices is a plus.
