Job Description - Product Owner


Product Owner



Role Summary:- 



The Product Owner is responsible for managing complex business requirements, driving solution discussions, and ensuring successful delivery of product capabilities across domains and systems.


The role requires strong product thinking, insurance domain expertise, and the ability to operate effectively in AI-enabled delivery environments. The Product Owner is expected to leverage AI-assisted workflows to improve speed, quality, traceability, prioritization, and cross-functional collaboration.


The Product Owner is a member of the Product Management team of IDIT R&D, responsible for managing requirements for complex features in the system. The candidate should be able to run workshops with domain managers, Product Managers, and customers to elicit requirements, present solution designs, and take requirements through to implementation.



Pre-requisites




  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (CS/IT preferred) or equivalent qualification.

  • MBA preferred.


Experience



  • 6–9 years of relevant experience.

  • Should have some technical experience before transitioning to a BA/Product role.

  • Insurance or BFSI experience is a must.

  • Prior knowledge of Core Insurance is a must.

  • Experience of having worked in at least one implementation project.

  • Led end-to-end requirements for at least 2 modules.


Key Responsibilities


Product & Requirement Ownership



  • Gather business requirements for medium to complex features and interfaces in the system (Contact/Policy, Claims/Accounting/Interfaces).

  • Document requirements in SDS.

  • Analyse and prioritize defects.

  • Conduct requirement discussions with Product Managers, Domain Managers, and customers.

  • Conduct walkthroughs of requirements with development and QA teams.

  • Attend daily stand-ups.

  • Conduct User Forums.

  • Conduct training sessions for junior members of the team.

  • Work as a core representative to project teams as needed.

  • Convert business requirements into Epics, Features, User Stories, and acceptance criteria.

  • Drive end-to-end solution discussions across Product, Engineering, QA, Architecture, and Delivery teams.

  • Perform impact analysis across modules, systems, and business processes.

  • Prioritize backlog items aligned to business outcomes and roadmap objectives.

  • Ensure traceability from business requirements to implementation and validation.

  • Support product roadmap execution and release planning.


AI-Enabled Responsibilities



  • Use AI tools to accelerate requirement analysis, documentation, prioritization, and workshop preparation.

  • Use AI-assisted techniques for: story generation, acceptance criteria generation, process mapping, impact analysis, test scenario generation, SQL/query generation, knowledge retrieval, and defect analysis.

  • Validate AI-generated outputs for correctness, feasibility, traceability, hallucinations, and bias.

  • Use AI-enabled insights to improve delivery efficiency and decision-making.

  • Contribute reusable prompts, templates, and AI-assisted delivery assets.

  • Drive adoption of AI-enabled ways of working within teams.

  • Apply responsible AI practices including governance, explainability, privacy, and human oversight.


Mandatory Skills



  • Strong understanding of insurance processes and core insurance systems.

  • Experience in Product Ownership, Business Analysis, or Solution Design.

  • Ability to manage complex cross-functional requirements.

  • Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.

  • Experience with Agile delivery methodologies.

  • Strong analytical and prioritization capabilities.

  • Working knowledge of APIs, integrations, and enterprise systems.

  • Excellent analytical skills and good design skills.

  • Intermediate SQL and data modelling skills (mandatory).

  • Understanding of SDLC and Agile concepts (mandatory).

  • Very good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to document business requirements as user stories; break large epics into smaller features and stories and document them in SDS.

  • Ability to conduct demos and walkthroughs with POs and business users.

  • Techno-functional and business solutioning capability.

  • Ability to effectively leverage AI-enabled delivery tools.


Good-to-Have Skills



  • Experience with AI-enabled delivery platforms and workflows.

  • Exposure to prompt engineering and AI-assisted analysis.

  • Exposure to digital transformation initiatives.

  • Exposure to Agentic AI concepts and orchestration-based workflows.
