Program Overview for Climate Economics and Finance (CEF)

Job Highlight:

WRI India is looking for a Program Associate – Grade 3 to join our Climate, Economics, and Finance (CEF) team. This individual will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of program activities, while also contributing to research, field implementation, documentation, and stakeholder engagement efforts, with a focus on Tamil Nadu and other states as required.

What you will do:

Program Coordination and Implementation

• Support planning and delivery of capacity building programmes including workshops, trainings, and stakeholder consultations.

• Coordinate with trainers, partner units, and state government departments and local stakeholders in Tamil Nadu.

• Manage event logistics, participant coordination, and post-programme follow-ups.

• Support on-ground program implementation, including coordination of field activities, surveys, and stakeholder interactions.

• Track program progress, timelines, and outputs through structured monitoring systems and trackers.

Research and Analytical Support

• Conduct secondary research, literature reviews, and policy analysis for ongoing MSME-related projects.

• Support primary data collection activities, including surveys, stakeholder interviews, and field assessments.

• Assist in compiling, validating, and analysing quantitative and qualitative data.

• Contribute to preparation of analytical reports, policy briefs, and presentations.

• Support data synthesis and development of actionable insights for program outputs.

Documentation and Knowledge Management

• Maintain and update program trackers, databases, and documentation systems.

• Support in preparing high-quality reports, summaries, meeting notes, and knowledge outputs.

• Document field insights, stakeholder consultations, and program learnings in a structured manner.

• Support development of case studies, best practices, and impact documentation.

• Assist in preparing presentations and reporting materials for internal and external stakeholders.

Public Finance and Institutional Support

• Assist in compiling information related to climate finance, sustainability initiatives, and relevant government schemes.

• Support development of training materials and knowledge resources.

• Contribute to coordination with state-level institutions, PMUs, and implementation partners.

• Provide support in preparing background notes, concept notes, and technical documentation.

Communications and Outreach

• Support in developing materials such as reports, presentations, and summaries, and support content development for communication products (brochures, flyers, etc.).

What you will need

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in public policy, sustainability, environmental studies, economics, or a related discipline. 

• 2–4 years of relevant experience in program support, research, or climate/sustainability initiatives. 

• Strong research, analytical, and documentation skills. 

• Experience in field-based projects, stakeholder engagement, or survey-based work preferred. 

• Ability to compile, synthesize, and present data effectively. 

• Strong coordination and organizational skills with attention to detail. 

• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 

• Familiarity with MSME, climate, sustainability, ESG, or development sector work is desirable. 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; Tamil preferred.
